The Office of the University Registrar at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a hybrid Degree Works Analyst. About the Opportunity The Degree Works Analyst at West Virginia University plays a vital role in supporting student success by accurately interpreting and coding academic policies and curricular requirements into WVU's degree audit system. This work directly impacts students and advisors across all WVU campuses. The analyst is responsible for developing, implementing, testing, and supporting the degree audit system, ensuring data accuracy, and enhancing system features. What You'll Do
- Perform a variety of duties involved in the development, implementation, testing, and continued support of the designated degree audit reporting system for the university.
- Code, update and modify degree audit programs, data and information such as curriculum requirements, policy changes, financial aid requirements, and courses and course requirement exceptions based on curriculum changes approved by appropriate governance groups.
- Research new and revised information regarding degree requirements through the University catalog, academic departments, and the Faculty Senate, as needed.
- Verify and assure accuracy of data, information and requirements for the degree audit system.
- Perform integral role in the testing and validation of Degree Works to ensure integrity of system and protect personally identifiable information.
- Research and develop plans for new Degree Works feature enhancements and upgrades.
- Interact with departments in creating new degree program requirements and determine adjustments to corresponding coding of degree requirements.
- Provide support and assistance to degree audit system (Degree Works) users.
- Contribute to marketing/strategic initiatives to highlight degree audit system to faculty, staff, and students.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in each of the following:
- Strong customer service experience
- Experience analyzing and interpreting complex requirements, policies, or procedures
- Experience with a computerized records management system or similar database management
- Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
- All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Record-keeping and report preparation techniques
- Principles, practices, and techniques used in the development, maintenance and analysis of computer systems, programs and applications
- Program, design, code and maintain degree audit system and functions such as tables, rules, degree exceptions, and curriculum requirements
- Understanding of the relationship between the CIM and CAT system, degree audit system, and Student Information System
- Verify and assure accuracy of data, information, and requirements for degree audit programs
- Data analysis for assessment of programs and system usage
- Review, analyze and modify existing programs as necessary
- Ability to understand multiple complex systems in order to train end users on these systems
- Ability to deliver effective training for users with differing technological skills and backgrounds
- Effect communication both orally and in writing
- Ability to manage multiple tasks for extended periods of time
- Ability to independently plan and organize work in a remote environment
