Job Description

Pay: $24.04-$26.44/hour

Work Schedule: M-F 8am-4:30pm, some evenings, some weekends

Full-Time position is eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, Short Term Disability, Life/Accidental Death and Dismemberment, Flexible Spending Accounts, Long Term Disability, and several voluntary supplemental benefit offerings. In addition, these positions are eligible for paid time off in the form of vacation, sick, holiday, floating holiday, jury duty, and bereavement leave. JOB SUMMARY:

The Specialist I, Skilled Trades Career Placement plays a key role in advancing the mission of Goodwill of Colorado by creating meaningful employment opportunities for individuals who have completed skilled trades training in heat pump installation, solar panel installation, or electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) technician training. This position is responsible for building and maintaining strong partnerships with employers in the clean energy and skilled trades sectors, supporting participant job placement, and ensuring long-term employment outcomes.

Additionally, the Career Placement Specialist will support recruitment efforts by screening and assessing prospective students for program eligibility, readiness, and alignment with career pathways in clean energy and skilled trades. The ideal incumbent is relationship-driven, detail-oriented, and passionate about workforce development and sustainable energy solutions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Employer Engagement and Job Development:



  • Assist in establishing and maintaining strong relationships with employers in the clean energy, construction, and skilled trades industries.
  • Identify current and future hiring needs and align training program graduates with appropriate opportunities.
  • Advocate for program participants by promoting their skills, training, and qualifications to prospective employers.
  • In partnership with the Business Development Outreach Specialist, assist with the coordination of job fairs, employer panels, and networking events to connect graduates with hiring partners.
  • Track job market trends to inform program design and placement strategies.
  • The Career Placement Specialist will occasionally support placement efforts of Goodwill programs unrelated to skilled trades.


Participant Support and Job Placement:



  • Collaborate with training staff to ensure participants are job-ready, with appropriate technical and soft skills.
  • Provide job search coaching, resume development, interview preparation, and workplace readiness support.
  • Assist graduates with placement in internships, apprenticeships, or full-time employment aligned with their training.
  • Monitor employment outcomes, retention, and career advancement to support long-term success.
  • Maintain accurate records of placements and employer partnerships in the program database.


Recruitment and Applicant Screening:



  • Support outreach and recruitment of potential students for skilled trades training programs.
  • Conduct applicant interviews, assessments, and screenings to determine eligibility and readiness for training.
  • Provide guidance on career pathways in clean energy and skilled trades to ensure informed enrollment decisions.
  • Collaborate with program staff to ensure smooth onboarding of new trainees.
  • Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:



  • A Bachelors degree in Workforce Development, Business, Human Services, or related field; equivalent experience considered in lieu of degree.


Experience:



  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in Workforce Development, Employer Engagement, Recruiting, Job Placement, or related field.


Other:



  • Knowledge of skilled trades, construction, or clean energy industries is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse employers and participants.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet placement goals and maintain strong employer relationships.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and database management systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and the mission of expanding opportunities in the clean energy workforce.
  • The incumbent will be required and must have the ability to drive for company business*.


*Per auto vehicle insurance carrier requirements: For applicants/employees to qualify for inclusion on the Goodwill driver insurance schedule, for purpose of driving Goodwill fleet vehicles, or for purpose of receiving company mileage reimbursement they must be at least:



  • 19 years of age (not engaged in passenger transportation),
  • 25 - 70 years of age for all passenger transportation services,
  • 21 years of age for CDL.


Applicants/employee will be required to undergo a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check and background check; applicants/employees must disclose all moving traffic violations or vehicle crashes (within the last five (5) years)(Note: not all violations are a disqualification for employment and each case will be reviewed by the insurance carrier); must have valid Colorado State driver license; must also be able to operate company vehicle, and adhere to all Federal, State, and local laws governing vehicle operation.
