The Opportunity

Are you passionate about building a more sustainable future? Sonepar is looking for a Sustainability Manager reporting to the VP, General Counsel, Sustainability to help us achieve our sustainability goals and promote sustainability within our operations. In this role, you'll be a key player in ensuring our commitment to environmental and social responsibility is not just a promise, but a reality.

You will provide sustainability insights for our operations and sales teams, support sustainability initiatives across the organization, manage emissions reporting and maintain critical data on third-party platforms, ensure regulatory compliance, and assist in implementation of emission-reduction initiatives.

This position is based in our Charleston, SC corporate office and is hybrid, with three days per week in office.

What You'll Do

As a Sustainability Manager, you will be responsible for a range of critical tasks, including:

Driving Internal Initiatives: You'll help develop and implement sustainability initiatives across the organization, including efforts focused on emissions reduction, waste reduction, and efficient water and energy usage. You will also support our progress toward science-based emission-reduction targets and renewable energy goals.

Partner with Leadership, Operations, and Sales. Support local operations and sales personnel, as well as corporate leaders. Educate personnel on behaviors and tasks necessary for environmental compliance. Create environmental solutions to support business needs, identify environmental risks, and develop strategies to minimize their impacts. Manage the use of consultants to improve returns and minimize costs.

Supporting ESG and Reporting: You'll assist with data collection and calculations for key reports, including our annual CSR Report and GHG emissions reporting. You'll also coordinate responses to sustainability questionnaires and customer inquiries and develop new solutions for tracking and measuring our carbon emissions and sustainability data.

Ensure Regulatory & Compliance: You'll stay aware of emerging regulatory requirements and advise on compliance and reporting obligations.

What We're Looking For



  • Experience: 5-7 years of experience in a similar role.
  • A passion for sustainability and ESG-related topics
  • Applied knowledge of sustainability concepts, including GHG emissions, climate and ecosystem health, circular economy, and product transparency.
  • Outstanding team player, sense of humor, intellectual curiosity
  • Ability to create a clear story out of complex data
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Moderate to high proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Availability to travel up to 20% of the time


Strongly Preferred



  • A major in Sustainability Studies, Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, or a similar field.
  • Knowledge of key sustainability certifications and databases.



Nice to Have



  • Knowledge of Extended Producer Responsibility programs, Inventory Management Plans, US and EU regulatory frameworks, and climate risk assessments.
