DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As the Security and Communications Officer, you will ensure a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, students, and visitors at Wernersville State Hospital. Key responsibilities include lobby duties, assisting staff with patient searches, assisting consumers with identifications for ground privileges, patrolling hospital facilities, responding to emergencies, investigating incidents, and enforcing institutional policies. You will also identify and address potential risks such as unauthorized individuals, traffic concerns, and fire hazards. Additionally, you will oversee communication systems, manage visitor access, and perform essential clerical tasks that support the hospital's daily operations. Your role will involve upholding traffic and parking regulations within the hospital grounds to ensure organized parking and smooth traffic flow, which includes monitoring employee vehicle registrations and reporting unauthorized vehicles to help safeguard the well-being of all occupants. You will also assist in locating missing patients and ensuring their safe return. Providing polite escort services and offering directions and assistance to patients, visitors, and staff will further contribute to a secure and welcoming hospital environment. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 12:30 PM to 8:30 PM, with varied days off and two 15-minute breaks. You will work every other weekend.
- May change based on operational needs.
- Overtime: As needed
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $38,515.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS Special Requirement:
- This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle operator's license.

Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
