Description A Brief Overview

The Technical Engineer is primarily responsible for ensuring the technological and clinical workflows required by our caregivers remain efficient and perform well, especially regarding our University Hospitals Electronic Medical Record Systems. This includes authentication methods, dictation, ambient listening, and other efficiency tools.

What You Will Do

  • Workflow and Coordination Support*Assist in process and workflow engineering to improve patient care delivery through system integration.*Assist with technology changes through needs analysis, vendor selection, implementation, and optimization.*Develop training materials and resources to enhance third-party usage with Epic (and other Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Systems) and validate user satisfaction.*Provide end-user support and optimize workflows based on user needs.*Monitor service requests and troubleshoot technical issues related to UH's clinical applications.*Promote the adoption of software applications relevant to End User Compute Engineering's goals and initiatives. *Identify and coordinate new processes and system enhancements to meet operational needs.*Support the Senior Virtualization Engineers in all activities related to the end user experience on our EMR. *Provide guidance to clinical analysts and management regarding EMR efficiency workflows.*Assist in administration and support efforts of Business Continuity, including BCA PC's, Web Servers, and Honor Roll.
  • Hardware Staging and Site Preparation*Participate with the different technical teams (Including Field Operations, Deployment Analysts, and Technical Analysts) to ensure successful upgrades and functionality of our EMR.*Ensure that any questions regarding our technologies are answered and all support systems have been enabled for each location/practice/participant.*Prepare and support the interaction of the end user devices with the back-end systems.
  • Application and System Support and Upgrades*Documenting and providing Tier-2/3 level support for all our EMR efficiency technologies, including Biometric and Proximity, Dictation, and Ambient Listening.*Updating and maintaining application versions and client device software.*Verifying that security requirements for the applications are maintained.*Verifying that all equipment and software is tested, validated, and up to date.*Collaborating with the Security team concerning biometric device installation, maintenance and troubleshooting.*Coordinating with other teams to ensure that all EMR supporting systems are functional.

  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
