The Development Engineer will assist in and lead the development of primary systems and sub-systems of air-cooled chillers. Technical system development of HVAC equipment using engineering fundamentals such as heat transfer, fluid dynamics and mechanical analysis Support the execution of the new product development phase-gate process, demonstrating appropriate design maturity and growth across various milestones Lead and support the design and integration of compression refrigeration systems; fans, motors, mechanical drives, and variable speed technologies; structural sheet metal and refrigeration system piping Give technical direction to create concepts and develop them into a marketable product and work cross-functionally with groups such as design, test, manufacturing, sales, and supply chain to ensure product design meets business needs Provide manufacturing support for concept and prototype unit builds Develop test plans and perform testing of components, sub-systems, and total systems, supporting performance, reliability, and industry certification Initiate and obtain agency and regulatory approval status for new products (UL, ETL, CRN, ASME, CE, etc.) Produce technical documentation to support the Marketing launch of new products and product options Provide infant support for newly released products, including review of training program documentation and supporting Application Engineering and Sales Assist in various cost improvement goals, proposing new ideas and initiating cost reduction and product improvement efforts to increase the overall value of the product
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering 2+ years of related experience (HVAC, Industrial Process, or similar) Detailed knowledge of engineering Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position

The typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $62,000 - $120,700 in Virginia. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls.
