This role is a hybrid position.
Some roles require an office while others may be done remotely. This position is considered hybrid, allowing for a combination of remote work and in-office collaboration. Qualified applicants must live within commuting distance of our Boston office locations.

We are looking for a Payroll Services Manager to lead payroll operations at Sonos as part of our Global Business Services (GBS) function. This role will oversee the delivery of accurate, compliant, and timely payroll across our international footprint. The Payroll Services Manager will drive process efficiency, governance, and continuous improvement, partnering with HR, Finance, Legal, and external vendors to ensure a seamless payroll experience for our employees worldwide.

This role will initially report to the Chief Accounting Officer and transition to the Sr. Director, Global Business Services over the next 6-12 months.

What You'll Do

  • Global Payroll Leadership: Lead payroll operations across multiple regions, ensuring payroll is delivered on time, accurately, and in compliance with local laws and regulations.

  • Process Optimization: Standardize and streamline global payroll processes to reduce complexity, increase efficiency, and improve employee experience.

  • Vendor Management: Oversee global payroll vendors (CloudPay); establish clear SLAs, monitor performance, and resolve escalations.

  • Systems & Integration: Partner with HRIS (Workday) and Finance to strengthen integrations, improve data flow, and ensure payroll data integrity.

  • Compliance & Risk Management: Maintain strong internal controls and audit readiness; ensure payroll processes meet statutory, tax, and GDPR requirements globally.

  • Team & Stakeholder Partnership: Collaborate with HR, Total Rewards, Finance, and Legal to support cross-functional initiatives such as benefits alignment, accounting reconciliations, and policy changes.

  • Employee Experience: Provide clear communication and support to employees on payroll and compensation-related questions.

  • Change & Project Management: Lead payroll-related projects, such as new country rollouts, vendor transitions, and system enhancements.

  • Metrics & Reporting: Define and monitor payroll KPIs (accuracy, timeliness, SLA compliance, audit results) and deliver insights to leadership.

What You'll Need

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of progressive payroll management experience, including leadership of multi-country/global payroll operations.

  • Strong knowledge of global payroll practices, compliance requirements, and vendor management.

  • Demonstrated success in building scalable payroll processes within a GBS or shared services environment.

  • Hands-on experience with Workday (HCM) and global payroll platforms (e.g., CloudPay).

  • Deep understanding of payroll accounting, audit controls, and statutory reporting.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills; able to balance operational detail with strategic vision.

  • Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret compensation and payroll data, create reports, and provide insights.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; CPP, GPA, or other payroll certifications a plus.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven track record of driving operational efficiencies and continuous improvement.

  • Experience implementing payroll process automation.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic global organization.

The base pay range for this role based off geographic location is:

$129,000 and $161,800

The specific pay offered will depend on the candidate's geographic location, as well as qualifications and experience. We apply geographic pay differentials based on the cost of labor in the market. Employees in high-cost locations may be compensated at the upper end of the range, while those in medium or low cost markets may be compensated at the lower end of the range. Your recruiter can provide more details about the specific salary range for your location during the hiring process.
