Overview
Acara Solutions is seeking a talented and motivated
Advanced Systems Engineer to support our defense client in
McLeansville, NC. This role focuses on advancing the development of
Seaborne Platform Systems within the
Maritime and Strategic Systems division. You'll be part of a cross-functional team driving innovation across concept development, rapid hardware prototyping, system integration, and trade studies for next-generation undersea technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the system architecture, design, and development of undersea and maritime systems.
- Support all phases of the systems engineering life cycle, including requirements definition, design, analysis, integration, and test.
- Participate in concept development, white paper creation, and technology maturation for emerging naval systems.
- Conduct trade studies and system performance assessments to guide design and technology decisions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams-hardware, software, mechanical, and test engineers-to ensure successful system delivery.
- Support program documentation, configuration management, and design reviews.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to align system design with mission and customer requirements.
- Contribute to proposal and new business development efforts by providing technical inputs and innovative solutions.
Required Skills / Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering or Science or Engineering or Mathematics.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Systems Engineer.
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
- Master's Degree.
- Agile experience.
- Experience in the concept development phase to include White Papers, Trade Studies, and Rapid Prototyping/Test.
- Experience in high-level requirements decomposition through test strategy, planning, fixtures, hands-on test execution, and reporting.
- Experience with undersea hardware, including cables, cable handling equipment, and other mechanical hardware and equipment.
- proficiency in requirements management and test planning.
- Creative thinker motivated to develop new concepts and solutions.
- Collaborative team player with the ability to provide and receive technical direction.
