Job Summary

The Human Resources Generalist plays a critical supporting role in coordinating various human resources tasks for our San Francisco duopoly station - KTVU/KICU (studio located in Oakland, CA). This includes participating in various phases of the employee lifecycle, aiding in recruitment efforts, maintaining employee records, managing benefits and leave administration, as well as overseeing the administration and processing of employee data changes in our HR Information System - Workday.

Responsibilities

* Verify and maintain the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of data in HR Information System, specifically Workday.

* Help ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures, as well as compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including the management of labor law postings and required reporting.
* Collaborate with management to review and update job descriptions to align with evolving business requirements.
* Aid in the recruitment process by identifying potential candidates, conducting preliminary screenings, organizing interviews, and performing reference and background checks.
* Oversee new employee orientations and onboarding procedures, ensuring all relevant information is updated in the company's records.
* Confirm that all employment-related prerequisites are fulfilled; generate and keep up with all necessary personnel documentation whether on paper, in Workday, or in electronic formats.
* Manage the I-9 verification process, including E-Verify, ensuring that forms are completed accurately and timely, documentation is verified, and all files are maintained and audited as required.
* Act as a connector between employees and the benefits department to address any inquiries or issues related to employee benefits.

* Support the administration of leave policies, handling the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) paperwork, and managing cases related to disability.
* Provide assistance with the performance appraisal process, addressing employee relations matters, and processing terminations.
* Organize various appointments and events, including meetings, interviews, and company activities.
* Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

* The ideal candidate will exhibit strong business ethics with a commitment to confidentiality.
* Possess outstanding verbal and written communication abilities, as well as excellent interpersonal and customer service capabilities.
* This position requires strong organizational skills.
* Strong time management skills are essential, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks effectively in a high-speed setting. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, especially MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint, is also required.
* A minimum of three years of relevant professional HR experience at the generalist level is also necessary.
* Experience with WorkDay is a strong plus.

Education

* College degree strongly preferred, ideally with a focus on human resources or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $80,000.00-90,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
