Grab your beanies and mittens -- the Erie Ice Rink is now hiring for the upcoming winter season for our Manager on Duty position! If you have a passion for ice sports, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team, this is the job for you!

This seasonal position plays a critical role in ensuring the ice surface is maintained to the highest standards, while providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all skaters.You will also be in charge of the seasonal Ice Rink Operators.



Please note: This seasonal position is expected to end at the end of the season, on or around mid/ late February of 2026.

Hiring Range:



$19.83/hr - $22.31/hr

$19.83/hr - $24.79/hr




ANTICIPATED WORK SCHEDULE:

Shifts will primarily be scheduled weekday evenings and weekends (Saturday & Sunday).




  • Schedule may vary depending on program-specific needs and scheduled events





DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manager Duties




  • Assists the Coordinator or Assistant Coordinator in performing daily duties in a variety of recreation and facility operations.





  • Acts as the Manager on Duty. Responsible for opening or closing the Erie Community Center, or the Coal Creek Ice Rink and Cafe'.





  • Greets guests, accepts, and processes memberships and registrations for specific activities within the Community Center and Department.





  • Ensures the facility is ready for normal daily use including stocking consumables, checking for overall cleanliness, and performing safety checks. Submits work orders through appropriate software.





  • Consistently checks the Facility Calendar, and ensures all events and programs are running properly.





  • Conducts facility tours and provides accurate and up-to-date information regarding the center and programs offered.





  • Ensures the safety of guests and program participants by enforcing all rules and policies with staff and guests. Take appropriate action steps following any incidents within the facility.





  • Remains composed and makes sound judgments in any emergency or non-emergency situation. Responds to emergency situations, administers first aid, CPR, or other medical attention as needed, and completes incident reports.





  • Attends and participates in staff meetings and trainings. May assist with training staff.





  • Maintains work area, facilities, supplies and equipment to ensure a safe and sanitary environment and orders supplies as needed.





  • Completes a variety of paperwork including daily records, logs, and incident reports.





  • Maintains frequent communications with staff. Reports issues or concerns with inventory, facility conditions, policies and incidents to supervisory staff as needed.





  • Processes payments and adheres to cash handling policies, balances cash registers and may complete daily cash reports.





Town Wide Expectations/Duties




  • Serve as a professional ambassador of the Town by maintaining a professional image, a team-based collaborative approach, and high ethical standards.





  • Inspect facilities and program areas to ensure a safe environment. Report safety concerns as needed.





  • Interpret, communicate, and enforce all Department, Town, County, State and Federal policies and procedures within areas of program responsibility.





  • Complete all required safety trainings in a timely manner and ensures staff compliance.





  • Develop and accomplish goals and objectives to support the Department and Town mission.





Other/Miscellaneous




  • May assist with set up and tear down of equipment, tables and chairs for classes and rentals.





  • Performs other related duties as assigned.





Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS




  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age





  • High School Diploma or GED





  • One year of related customer service, recreation or related experience is required.





A combination of education and experience may be considered.

CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS




  • Ability to obtain CPR, First Aid and AED certification within three months of employment





Pre-employment screenings include:



  • Interview process





  • Background checks including national and county criminal scan, sex-offender registry check and driving record check through DMV
