Job Description

The Account Manager at Sealed Air is a vital sales role responsible for managing and expanding the Automated Packaging Systems (APS) Autobag line throughout the state of Illinois, with a primary focus on the Chicagoland area. This position demands a results-driven sales professional who can cultivate new business opportunities through distribution channels while strengthening partnerships with key distributors.



The ideal candidate will have experience in capital equipment or industrial automation sales, a strong understanding of distribution management, and the ability to communicate product value and ROI to diverse industrial customers. Based in the Chicagoland area, this position involves frequent day travel within the territory and occasional overnight trips to more distant locations.



What You'll Be Doing



  • Develop and manage key accounts throughout Illinois, focusing on promoting the APS product line and expanding new business opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with distributors and end users, ensuring customer satisfaction and sustained growth.
  • Collaborate closely with regional sales leadership, marketing, and internal teams to deliver tailored, value-based packaging solutions aligned with customer needs and market trends.
  • Execute a disciplined sales approach emphasizing distribution management, new customer acquisition, and value-based selling in industrial and capital equipment markets, with a focus on ROI and labor efficiency.
  • Use data-driven insights to quantify and communicate customer value, supporting Sealed Air's commitment to innovation and measurable performance.
  • Coordinate with dedicated sales support resources to optimize territory coverage and enhance customer experience.
  • Travel regularly within the Chicagoland region, primarily for day trips, with occasional overnight stays to cover southern parts of the territory.
  • Complete the required weekly number of onsite Key Account and Prospect visits.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven success in sales within packaging, capital equipment, or industrial automation environments.
  • Strong background in distribution management and new business development, with demonstrated ability to build and sustain distributor relationships.
  • Technically adept, with the ability to quickly learn and communicate value propositions for automated packaging systems and capital equipment.
  • Skilled in articulating ROI and labor efficiency benefits to industrial customers.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills across all organizational levels.
  • Highly self-motivated, strategic, and organized - capable of managing a large, dynamic territory independently.
  • Strong sense of urgency and responsiveness to distributor needs, ensuring timely support and follow-up.
  • Experience working with major distribution partners.



Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of experience in selling high-performance, automated, or value-added products, ideally within packaging or capital equipment.
  • Solid financial and analytical acumen for tenders, budgets, and customer agreements.
  • Proficiency in SAP (or similar ERP systems), Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and CRM tools.
  • Ability to thrive within a matrix organization and collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel frequently within the territory.

Pay Transparency

Remote: Yes - in Chicagoland area


Total Target Compensation (Base + Commission): ($103,571 - $145,000)



The range disclosed complies with applicable state and local pay transparency laws. Offers within this range will be determined by considering relevant factors including education, experience, and internal alignment. This position may also be eligible for annual performance bonuses and other incentive programs. Sealed Air offers a competitive benefits package that includes health, dental, vision, 401(k), paid time off, and other benefits designed to promote well-being.
