POSITION SUMMARY:



  • The Lead Transportation Coordinator reports to the Divisional Director, Warehouse
  • Located in Landover, MD
  • Full-Time
  • On Site



The Lead Transportation Coordinator is responsible for overseeing transportation operations, managing a team of transportation coordinators, and ensuring the efficient movement of goods. The Lead Transportation Coordinator will coordinate with carriers, internal stakeholders, and third-party logistics providers to ensure timely delivery of shipments and excellent customer service.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:


Team Leadership:



  • Lead and supervise a team of transportation coordinators, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance and productivity.


Transportation Coordination:



  • Coordinate transportation activities, including scheduling pickups and deliveries, arranging shipments, and optimizing routes to maximize efficiency.
  • Communicate with carriers, freight forwarders, and other logistics partners to arrange transportation services and negotiate rates.


Shipment Tracking and Monitoring:



  • Oversee the tracking of shipments in transit, monitoring progress, and addressing any delays or issues to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Proactively communicate updates and status information to internal stakeholders and customers.


Documentation and Compliance:



  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of transportation documentation, including bills of lading, shipping manifests, and customs paperwork.
  • Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, safety standards, and company policies.


Customer Service:



  • Serve as a point of contact for internal and external customers regarding transportation inquiries, delivery status updates, and shipment tracking information.
  • Address customer concerns or issues related to transportation, providing timely resolution and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.


Problem Resolution:



  • Identify and resolve transportation-related issues, such as delivery delays, damaged shipments, or carrier disputes, in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Implement corrective actions and preventive measures to minimize disruptions and improve operational efficiency.



COMPETENCIES:



  • Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop team members to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) or other logistics software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes, evaluate options, and implement solutions.
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations, logistics terminology, and industry best practices.



QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:



  • 5+ years of experience in transportation coordination, logistics management, or a similar role, or equivalent military or practical experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in transportation logistics, including familiarity with shipping regulations, customs procedures, and international logistics.
  • Proven track record of success in leading teams, optimizing processes, and delivering results in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check post offer acceptance.

The range provided represents the national average pay range for this position and is considered to be a general guideline. Pay for this position will reflect the candidate's unique qualifications and may be higher or lower than the range provided based on employee geographic location. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other local, state, and federal law.


In addition to base salary, this role will be eligible for participation in TriMark's' benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, 401K (with employer match), etc. Leadership positions may also qualify for participation in bonus programs commensurate with role and scope of responsibility.
