SUMMARY
Responsible for acting as a proactive liaison and advocate for security within the business applications team, translating security concepts and fostering a security-aware culture. Works closely with the security team to ensure all enterprise applications meet corporate governance with proper oversight. Supports the IT Security team by assessing current practices and providing recommendations on where changes can be made to mitigate risk.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensures compliance with applicable corporate and divisional policies, and procedures, along with State and Federal laws related to IT security & data privacy and recommends changes where needed.
Performs audit reviews and implementation of recommendations.
Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and effective communication.
Serves as a liaison between IT and third-party vendors, ensuring proper communications and information is shared timely in regards to security and incidents.
Leads the development, documentation, and implementation of new processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Stays up-to-date on leading practices related to IT governance, risk, and control, and collaborates with management to deliver internal training and guidance.
Addresses security questions from the team and vendors, using understanding of applications, data and compliance requirements.
Conducts QA testing to ensure proper security protocols are in place after patching, upgrades, etc..
Acts as the point of contact for security on the team for the applications that are supported.
Educates, raises awareness, and encourages a culture of security across the team.
Participates in, leads, and shares knowledge of tools, and emerging threats with the team.
Serves as a lead for junior staff, educating, teaching and creating awareness.
Generates reports on security metrics by enterprise application for leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information technology, information security, or a related field. Associates in combination with certifications and experience.
Four (4) or more years related experience particularly with IT Security & Data Privacy
Two (2) or more years Insurance industry experience
SKILLS
Strong knowledge of best practices related to IT governance, risk, and control
Strong knowledge of State and Federal laws surrounding IT Security & Privacy
Good verbal and written communication skills
Excellent customer service skills, including telephone and listening skills
Good planning, organizational and prioritization skills
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
Self-starter, with the ability to work independently with minimal direction
Strong ability to resolve multiple complex and critical issues
