VDC Senior Project Manager

The VDC Senior Project Manager serves as a highly skilled technical expert responsible for leading model execution, coordination, and innovation across projects. Success in this role is measured by technical precision, mentorship, and the ability to enhance project outcomes through advanced VDC integration. This position reflects McGough's commitment to excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement in project delivery.

Qualifications:

Required:



  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Science, or equivalent AEC industry experience.
  • 8-10 years of experience planning and executing BIM and VDC at the project level.
  • Advanced proficiency with BIM authoring software (Revit) and 3D coordination tools such as Revizto and Navisworks.
  • Experience planning and executing laser scanning, including processing and creating deliverables from scan data.


Preferred:



  • 10-15 years of experience planning and executing BIM and VDC at the project level.
  • Experience setting up and managing projects in Revizto.
  • Part 107 certification and experience leveraging drones and associated software to produce project deliverables.
  • Familiarity with 360 photo platforms and progress tracking best practices.
  • Experience with 4D/5D modeling and animation (Fuzor, Synchro Pro, or similar).
  • Experience developing virtual mockups and collaborating on their execution.
  • Programming experience using Dynamo, Python, or similar scripting languages.


Skills:



  • Experience mentoring and developing less experienced VDC professionals.
  • Demonstrated VDC acumen with strong knowledge of construction delivery models, documentation, and sequencing.
  • Proven ability to train and support both VDC and non-VDC personnel in workflows, tools, and technology.
  • Strong visualization skills-able to conceptualize and create accurate 2D, 3D, 4D, and 5D deliverables.
  • Committed to continuous learning, innovation, and the application of LEAN and VDC best practices.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities with minimal supervision.

Office and Travel:



  • This position requires that the individual be onsite full-time for the duration of the project near Bismark, ND.


Job Responsibilities and Tasks:



  • Collaborate with internal project teams, owners, architects, engineers, and trade partners to develop and execute BIM Execution Plans (BEPs).
  • Develop 3D models for site logistics, 4D phase planning, and marketing or pursuit efforts.
  • Create 3D virtual mockups and manage coordination among design disciplines, subcontractors, and fabricators.
  • Lead and facilitate 3D coordination efforts on projects ranging from small to mega-scale.
  • Promote the value and application of VDC technologies internally and externally.
  • Create 2D/3D/4D/5D deliverables using software such as Revit, Navisworks, SketchUp, Bluebeam, and Fuzor.
  • Support the VDC Director and project teams in defining VDC scope, schedules, and budgets.
  • Actively mentor and lead junior VDC personnel.
  • Utilize BIM for visualization, constructability reviews, and project coordination.
  • Train project team members on the access and use of VDC and BIM deliverables.
  • Contribute lessons learned and feedback to improve company processes and VDC standards.
  • Assist in managing and updating VDC content libraries and standard work documentation.
  • Develop visual and model-based content to support marketing and pursuit teams.

Technical Position



  • BIM Execution & Coordination: Develops and implements BIM Execution Plans; leads cross-disciplinary model coordination using Revit, Navisworks, and Revizto.
  • 3D/4D/5D Modeling & Visualization: Produces high-quality, data-rich models and visualizations for logistics, sequencing, and estimating.
  • Laser Scanning & Reality Capture: Plans, executes, and integrates 3D scan data for project verification and analysis.
  • VDC Systems & Tools Mastery: Demonstrates expert proficiency in key VDC tools and workflows; leverages automation and scripting where appropriate.
  • Construction Process Integration: Links VDC workflows to estimating, scheduling, and field operations to support LEAN project delivery.
  • Quality & Standardization: Contributes to consistent, high-quality VDC deliverables and documentation across all projects.
  • Technical Leadership: Provides direction, troubleshooting, and mentorship within the VDC discipline.
  • Marketing & Visualization Support: Creates high-impact visuals and models for proposals and presentations.


MEASUREMENTS OF SUCCESS



  • All VDC deliverables submitted per project schedule.
  • Documented mentorship or training provided for at least one junior team member per project.
  • At least one new process improvement or VDC method implemented annually.
  • 4.5/5 stakeholder satisfaction rating from project managers and clients.
  • Model-based estimating accuracy maintained within 3% variance of verified quantities.

Position involves sitting for extended periods of time at employee's work station and during meetings as well as while traveling, either by plane or car.
