Job Summary
A Research Scientist position is immediately available in the Kim Laboratory in the Department of Bioengineering at the University of Texas at Dallas. The successful candidate must i) have extensive experience in analog circuit design using Cadence, ii) have experience in electrochemical methods including fast-scan cyclic voltammetry, iii) demonstrate exceptional technical and communication skills in English, and iv) have previous experience with animal research. The candidate will play a critical role in assisting with hands-on research in the field of biomedical engineering. This is a 2-year position, renewable pending funding availability and satisfactory performance.
Minimum Education and Experience
- Master's degree in field directly related to research - Two (2) years of experience/expertise performing research relating to a specified field of study - Or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience totaling at least eight years.
Preferred Education and Experience

  • Doctoral Degree in electrical engineering or related fields.
  • A minimum of two years of experience as a postdoctoral researcher in FSCV-based neurochemical recordings.
  • Experiences with animal research.
  • Experience collaborating with undergraduate and graduate student researchers.
  • Prior experience with IACUC protocol development and compliance under PI leadership

Other Qualifications
To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential duties will include:

  • Design analog integrated circuits and electronic system for neurochemical recordings
  • Conduct wet-lab experiments and experiments involving animal research
  • Maintain accurate and organized research documentation
  • Ensure all activities are conducted ethically and in accordance with relevant regulatory standards
