POSITION SPECIFICS

The Pennsylvania State University, Office of Ethics and Compliance (OEC), is seeking an Investigations Case Manager to join a dynamic team dedicated to upholding the University's values and ethics, with a focus on compliance with regulations, laws, and institutional policies. Our mission is to serve and collaborate with the Penn State community, inspiring ethical behavior and finding innovative solutions to compliance challenges, thereby ensuring the University's continued academic, research, and administrative success. This position will oversee and manage inquiries received directly or within the University's anonymous reporting systems, provide investigative services, and support case management related to reporting. This position reports to the director of investigations and works cross-functionally with leadership and staff across the University.

Responsibilities:

The position will establish consistent and professional case management processes, including assigning tasks to completion, creating reports based on data within the "ethics hotline," and reviewing and updating procedures based on local, state, and federal compliance requirements and University policies, standards, guidelines, best practices, and procedures.

The successful candidate will simultaneously manage multiple cases and handle all hotline reports with excellent customer service, organization, consistency, and timeliness. Investigative duties may also include interviewing complainants, respondents, and witnesses, collecting evidence to support reporting, and making final recommendations. This position will be responsible for consulting with and establishing strong synergies and partnerships across various units within the University, requiring a high degree of personal/professional ethics and confidentiality.

This position will be filled at the Advanced Professional or Intermediate Professional level.

Required Qualifications:

  • Previous experience conducting investigations and case management

  • The ability to establish rapport amongst various levels of faculty, staff, students, and outside agencies

  • Outstanding customer service skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication

  • Exceptional analytical, judgement, and organization skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience managing investigations and a reporting system/hotline in a higher education environment.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

If filled as Compliance Specialist - Advanced Professional, this position requires: Bachelor's Degree 3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None If filled as Compliance Specialist - Intermediate Professional, this position requires: Bachelor's Degree 1+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. Penn State does not sponsor or take over sponsorship of a staff employment Visa. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $56,200.00 - $89,600.00.
