Position Summary: Design and coordinate protection and control systems for one or more of the following areas of responsibility: transmission, substation or distribution. Provide support for the installation, testing, and troubleshooting of protection and control systems. Perform post-fault event analysis. Develop and maintain standards and specifications. Work on project teams. Assist with NERC compliance.
 Position Responsibilities
 
     
 Develop and maintain system models for short circuit analysis and coordination studies (Aspen OneLiner/CymeDIST).Design detailed wiring diagrams for protection and control schemes.Analyze protection coordination, perform protection calculations, and create relay protection and logic settings.Prepare and maintain protection system specifications and standards in compliance with industry guidelines and good engineering practices.Evaluate application of new protection equipment.Maintain accurate protection system documentation (drawings, settings, and scheme descriptions).Investigate protection system misoperations and develop corrective action plans.Provide construction and commission testing support for protection and control projects.Provide technical support to substation and relay technicians.Coordinate protection and control projects: design, bill of materials, cost estimates, purchase requisitions, and schedule.Participate on project teams for large scope projects such as new substation construction.Perform and document tasks required to demonstrate compliance with NERC protection and control requirements.Maintain effective working relationships with employees and customers at all levels within LCEC. Ensure smooth operations, productive communications, and effective understanding during all interpersonal contacts. Provide current and accurate information to all requesters, courteously and in a timely manner.Support Storm Restoration efforts when needed. Work in emergency storm situations (i.e. hurricanes) and work long hours (>12 hours per day) for many continuous days/weeks as needed.Perform other related duties as assigned.
 Education 
     
 Associate's Degree Engineering (Electrical or Power preferred) with 10 years of Protection and Control Engineering experience (Required) orBachelor's Degree Engineering (Electrical or Power preferred) (Required) orMaster's Degree Engineering (Electrical or Power preferred) (Preferred)
 Work Experience 
     
 Engineering with 6 years' experience in Power Engineering. (Required)3 years multiple Power Engineering roles. (Preferred)
 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 
     
 Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Professional Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with all levels within and outside of the organization.Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and demands.Strong analytical, decision analysis and problem-solving skills.Ability to work effectively in high-energy and fast-paced environment.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
 Licenses and Certifications 
     
 Driver License, Valid and in State Florida driver's license or ability to obtain one upon employment Upon Hire (Required)Licensed Professional Engineer-NSPE (Preferred)
