Texas Oncology is looking for a Remote Manager of Social Work (LCSW) to join our team! This position is fully remote but will based out of the corporate location in Dallas, Texas.

What is the Long-Term Incentive Plan (LTIP)?

Long-Term Incentive Plan (LTIP): is an incentive program that typically vests over a three-year period and is tied to both individual performance and the operational success of Texas Oncology. Awards are discretionary and based on your position, performance, and potential for future career growth at Texas Oncology. Awards are reviewed and approved during the annual compensation review. What does the position do?

Oversees the day to day activities of social work at multiple sites of operation. Participates in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders, for patients requiring emotional and psychosocial assistance. Serves as a resource to the medical staff. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.


Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing and mentoring social work staff to ensure adequate coverage and quality care.

  • Meets individually with assigned social workers to review case assignments, workflow and productivity.

  • Provides continuous daily support and problem-solving assistance.

  • Addresses and resolves any barriers and provides creative solutions to case problems or issues.

  • Responsible for assessing skill and performance level of all social workers within sites of responsibility. Creates plans to address growth & development of team members.

  • Performs quarterly evaluations and documentation of assigned social workers.

  • Assists Director of Social Work with hiring, promotion, disciplinary actions and termination processes of social workers.

  • Responsible for onboarding and new employee role support, working closely with Practice Directors.

  • Leads team meetings to address, discuss and educate about topics of importance.

  • Role includes routine site visits to locations within area of responsibility state-wide.

  • Responsible for ongoing training needs of existing team members, committee oversight, and annual conference planning participation.

  • Develops departmental SOPs, patient and family programs, and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Networks and investigates to find necessary community resources and programs to aid in patient care.

  • Offers in-service education programs and functions as a resource to medical staff and the community.

  • Participates in and contributes to Value Based Care initiatives; attends leadership meetings to assure coordination of services for patients and staff. Collaborates closely with other disciplines to facilitate guidance of MIPS/EOM metric task work.

  • Provides coverage for team members as needed to include emotional support and crisis assessment to patients and families, as well as non-pharmacologic support for pain, sleep issues, and other concerns.

  • Responsible for site communication and coverage planning during social work position gaps or LOA.

  • Provides education to practice stakeholders, including providers and clinic staff, regarding skills and knowledge specific to the role of a mental health worker in a medical practice; serves as a resource to clinic staff and physicians.

  • May provide therapeutic counseling to patients, family members, and caregivers as needed. Assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental, emotional, and behavioral issues as appropriate. If billing for these services, will document session notes and billing requirements in a timely fashion.

  • Meets with patients and their families to administer, assess, and provide appropriate follow-up of psychosocial needs assessments. Considers social support, appropriate community resources, and coping mechanisms.

  • Active member of the medical interdisciplinary team. Ensures ongoing communication with team members to facilitate understanding and support of identified patient and family needs.

  • Provides speaking services to groups and organizations to facilitate public understanding of the emotional component of the cancer experience.

  • Will assist with logistics of growing field placement program as needed.

  • Will provide assistance with support group program oversight as needed.

  • May be asked to provide clinical supervision to LMSWs working towards clinical licensure if necessary and deemed appropriate.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of age-specific differences in the patient population that include late adolescence, adulthood, middle age, and the elderly. This includes physiological, psychological, and developmental differences unique to each group.

  • Other duties as assigned by Director of Social Work


Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following background and experience:

  • Master's degree in social work from a school or program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
  • Minimum seven (7) years experience working as a licensed clinical social worker

  • Minimum three (3) years oncology, hospice, and/or palliative care experience desired.
    At least two (2) years project management or supervisory experience.

  • Valid and current state master's-level license

Working Conditions:

The work environment may include exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment. Work will involve in-person interaction with co-workers and management and/or clients. Work may require minimal 10-20% of travel workweek.
