Software Product Management Lead, Subject Matter Expert (SME-SPML) Location: Hybrid within proximity to DCA for occasional meetings Clearance: Active DoD Secret required Employment Type: Full-Time (Must be an employee of Prime Contractor) Nationwide IT Services (NIS) is seeking an experienced Software Product Management Lead for a potential opportunity to support a high-visibility Department of Defense (DoD) program. In this role, you will lead software product strategy, oversee iterative development and release planning, manage product roadmaps, and collaborate closely with both technical teams and senior stakeholders. This position is ideal for a senior software product leader who thrives in mission-focused environments and enjoys guiding the development of complex, high-availability systems. What You'll Do Lead execution and management of software product strategy and development activities. Provide direction, oversight, and quality assurance for program deliverables. Drive backlog management, sprint planning, and iterative product release execution. Define and prioritize Epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria based on mission requirements. Communicate product status, roadmaps, metrics, and priorities to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Support architecture, design, and implementation of mission-critical software capabilities. Required Qualifications Must be an employee of the prime contractor (cannot be a subcontractor-only role). Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) or related technical field. 9+ years senior-level experience with DoD software architecture & development for mission-critical systems. 9+ years of experience supporting Agile / iterative software development and sprint release planning. Experience defining and prioritizing Epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria. 4+ years of experience presenting product strategies and roadmaps to diverse stakeholder groups. Active DoD Secret Clearance (required on Day 1). Preferred Qualifications Agile / Scrum / SAFe certification, such as: PMI-ACP, CSM, CSPO, SAFe SM, SAFe PO/PM. Experience supporting DoD or U.S. Military Service operational mission areas. 3+ years of experience with AWS GovCloud and/or DoD CC SRG environments. 9+ years of experience supporting U.S. Service systems (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard).
