Position Summary

The UNM Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is seeking a dynamic candidate to serve as a Clinical Research Manager running a research study, "Evaluation of Psilocybin As an Adjunctive Treatment for Opioid Use Disorder in Methadone-maintained Patients Who Continue to Use Illicit Opioids."

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of this multi-million dollar research grant and coordinating the implementation of the clinical protocol in accordance with the research plan. Candidate will manage all regulatory aspects of the study, including IRB submissions, modifications, approvals, audits, and adverse event reporting, as well as manage and prepare reports on study progress for the data safety monitor, the PIs, the IRBs, and the study sponsor. This is a high-level, high-energy position that requires attention to detail, ability to work independently, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced setting. The candidate will need to use acquired knowledge and skill to carry out and complete project activities.

Duties include:
* Managing all regulatory aspects of the study including IRB submissions, modifications, approvals, audits, and adverse event reporting
* Responsibility for all study recruitment efforts
* Preparing reports on study progress for data safety monitor, the PIs, the IRBs and the study sponsor
* Oversee storage, dispensing, and accountability of study medication; including maintaining temperature logs and tracking medication inventory
* Managing all study related efforts including: study team personnel, study procedures, training requirements, procurement processing and documentation, data entry, data integrity, data entry and data management
* Coordinating conference calls and meetings for PIs and co-investigators and providing study progress data necessary for meetings. Preparing reports, running meetings and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
* Responsibility for working with department research and finance administration to make purchases for the study such as participant incentives, study supplies, and equipment
* Maintaining On-site regulatory records
* Managing study biological assessments, including specimen collection, processing, and shipping
* May act as a back up to the Research coordinator

Conditions of Employment
  • NM Licensure as a Registered Nurse may be required, as appropriate to the individual position
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
  • May be required to submit to annual TB and rubella screening.
  • UNM will provide Hepatitis vaccination, candidate may decline vaccination through declination form or may provide record of vaccination from previous employer.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in scientific or social science discipline
  • Experience in Managing Psychiatric Research trials and the administration of clinical interviews and assessments
  • Experience in conducting Clinical Research Studies and submitting and maintaining regulatory documents
