THE HIGH LEVEL

IT Support Technician will be responsible for direct end user technical support for the Virginia Information Technology Agency (VITA) contract by providing comprehensive IT support for end users at customer sites throughout Virginia and the surrounding areas. Installs, maintains, and repairs products such as equipment, integrated systems, and software at the client and/or field locations. Instructs customers in equipment operation, provides technical assistance, performs preventative maintenance, troubleshoots equipment for malfunctions to eliminate problem in minimum time.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING



  • Provide technical / IT support for Commonwealth of Virginia
  • Perform routine maintenance on customer's assets
  • Provide comprehensive and timely resolution of all IT issues
  • Responsible for system updates, ticketing and asset management
  • Perform break/fix software & hardware support (including OEM-certified warranty repair)
  • Execution of asset disposal activities
  • Training on new products and services
  • Support of end users that remotely access services (including shipping replacement devices, leveraging 3rd party hardware repair or other forms of onsite support)
  • Resolution of issues involving business applications on and off premise (e.g. cloud)
  • Provide support remotely via remote administration tools as well as onsite / desk side
  • Support tasks include end user device configurations
  • Imaging of Commonwealth devices
  • May collaborate with vendors to provide technical insight
  • Provide support for Windows 10/11 & MAC operating systems, software/application support, troubleshooting, diagnostics, repairs, system restorations, etc.
  • Provide after hours and weekend support as needed


WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE



  • You have a high school diploma (or equivalent experience) and 2-3 years of IT support or field service experience.
  • You've performed OS upgrades, updates, and patching to maintain system security and stability.
  • You provided VPN and remote access support, troubleshooting connectivity and authentication issues.
  • You maintained accurate asset management records, including inventory updates and hardware tracking.
  • You diagnosed and resolve technical issues across desktops, laptops, and mobile endpoints.
  • You performed troubleshooting independently with minimal supervision.
  • You've managed your time effectively to prioritize tasks and meet service expectations.
  • You created clear, accurate technical documentation for processes and solutions.
  • You're available for frequent travel and have reliable transportation.
  • You have a valid driver's license.
  • You can lift up to 30 pounds and perform detailed manual assembly or repair tasks.
  • You can pass VITA, Department of Corrections, and Virginia State Police background checks.



TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

This position has a strong preference for candidates based in Glen Allen, VA and will require 25% travel.
