Role description

Job Title: Derivatives Lead

Shift: UK Hours
Location: Chennai

Overview of the Role

The Derivatives Operations Analyst will be responsible for end-to-end post-trade processing, lifecycle management, reconciliation, and reporting for all derivatives products (Exchange-Traded and OTC). The role includes managing trade confirmation, collateral and margin workflows, fund reporting, and break resolution in coordination with fund administrators, prime/executing brokers, custodians, and internal teams.

This position requires strong derivatives product knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to operate in a dynamic, fast-paced asset management environment.

Key Responsibilities




  • Provide full post-execution operational support to Fund Managers, Dealers, Fund Manager Assistants (FMAs), and Third-Party Administrators (TPAs).



  • Daily processing, confirmation, and reconciliation for a range of derivative products, including:




    • OTC Derivatives: Options, Credit Default Swaps (CDS), Interest Rate Swaps (IRS), Inflation Linked Swaps



    • Exchange-Traded Derivatives (ETD)



    • Contracts for Difference (CFDs)





  • Manage trade lifecycle events (e.g., resets, expiries, exercises) across all derivative types.



  • Oversee daily margin and collateral processes with counterparties and Prime Brokers.



  • Confirm trades electronically on trade date and ensure timely settlement.



  • Reconcile income and asset servicing transactions with Prime Broker records.



  • Reconcile and settle monthly derivative resets.



  • Maintain and reconcile tax tables in line with investor types and market rates.



  • Resolve income and transaction breaks promptly and escalate when necessary.



  • Ensure trade and position data is accurately reflected in core systems and spreadsheets.



  • Adhere to internal controls and AAF (Assurance Reports on Internal Controls) guidelines for document filing and record keeping.



  • Support onboarding of new funds and share classes by coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.



  • Liaise with TPAs, responding to queries and ensuring proper notification of derivative activity.



  • Follow and enhance procedures and controls to mitigate operational risk.



  • Ensure all operational deadlines are met and issues are disclosed promptly and comprehensively.




Must-Have Skills & QualificationsCategory Requirements







Experience Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in derivatives operations (ETD and OTC) within an asset management, hedge fund, or investment banking environment
Product Knowledge - Strong understanding of derivative products: CFDs, CDS, IRS, Options, Swaps- Full trade lifecycle knowledge
Trade Systems Experience with trade matching platforms and derivative confirmation systems
Reconciliation & Controls Proven experience in reconciliation processes, margin/collateral workflows, and following internal control standards
Communication Strong written and verbal communication skills to engage with internal/external stakeholders
Attention to Detail High accuracy in processing and reporting; diligent in resolving discrepancies
Soft Skills - Ability to work effectively under pressure in a team environment- Proactive in identifying and escalating issues- Deadline and detail oriented

Certifications - Investment Operations Certificate (IOC)- CFA Institute Investment Foundations- NSE Certification- Foundations of Financial Risk
Systems Knowledge Familiarity with systems used in asset management (e.g., Aladdin, MarkitWire, TriResolve)
Technical Skills - Advanced Excel skills (formulas, PivotTables)- Experience with tax tables and reset reconciliations
Fund Onboarding Experience supporting new fund/fund share class setups from an operations perspective
Process Improvement Participation in process automation, efficiency improvements, or audit/risk reviews
