Test Lab Manager

Responsible for all operations of the test lab, including execution of testing programs, maintaining and sourcing test equipment, scheduling test activities and resources, and managing lab personnel.
Identify long term equipment needs of the lab considering factors such as: upcoming testing requirements, condition / life of current equipment, etc.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Directly supervises 4-6 associates in the Test Lab, including such roles as Validation Engineer, Test Lab Technician, Test Lab Master Scheduler, and students. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the essential duties satisfactorily. Required: Bachelor's degree (BS) in an engineering field of study and two to four years of test lab experience and/or training. Previous supervisory experience preferred. * Experience in interpreting product specifications, and developing / verifying test instructions and procedures Preferred: Master's degree (MS) in an engineering field of study and three to ten years of test lab leadership experience. * Automotive industry experience LANGUAGE SKILLS MATHEMATICAL SKILLS REASONING ABILITY PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Must also be able to hear audible alarms and communicate verbally. WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and extreme heat or cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
