What to Expect

This is a dynamic role and a key member of the Residential Energy Business Development team, supporting all residential products (solar, energy storage, and home charging) across all global regions. The Sr. Market Intelligence Manager will lead market and competitive intelligence efforts, build market sizing and forecasting models, and generate insights on industry trends to guide strategic decision-making. Responsibilities range from developing TAM/SAM/SOM analyses and revenue models to synthesizing competitive activity and informing leadership on emerging opportunities and risks.

On any given day, the role may involve evaluating policy and utility tariff changes, maintaining structured market and competitive datasets, building clear market models, or partnering with sales and product teams on business cases. The breadth of work requires strong energy market knowledge, sharp analytical skills, and a disciplined, structured approach to problem-solving.

Success in Tesla's Residential Energy Business Development team requires the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment. What You'll Do
  • Monitor competitive landscapes, industry developments, and emerging technologies in solar, storage, and home charging to identify strategic opportunities
  • Maintain structured systems for tracking pricing, partnerships, and product specifications across key markets
  • Develop detailed TAM/SAM/SOM models, market forecasts, and scenario analyses to guide strategy and resource prioritization
  • Conduct quantitative modeling using internal data, third-party reports, and primary research to validate market assumptions
  • Synthesize complex market data into concise insights for leadership and cross-functional partners
  • Provide strategic recommendations to support business development, partnerships, and new market entry evaluations
  • Partner with product, marketing, and sales teams to validate customer needs and inform positioning and messaging

What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the electricity industry with a broad understanding of industry dynamics
  • Strong financial modeling skills with proficiency in DCF, IRR, and NPV
  • High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint for data analysis and presentations
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex datasets and communicate findings to executive stakeholders
  • Preferred experience of 7+ years in the electricity industry
  • Preferred knowledge of energy storage technology and value propositions in residential and C&I verticals

    Expected Compensation
    $88,000 - $162,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
