Purpose and Scope
The Director of Medical Affairs assists in the development and successful execution of the medical affairs strategy, programs and deliverables, consistent and aligned with compliant marketing strategies. This position provides clinical and subject-matter expertise to the marketing and sales teams and ensures the scientific integrity of all research, information, and communication with healthcare providers and patient advocacy groups. The Director of Medical Affairs must forge productive and compliant partnerships with the internal product development and commercial teams, as well as outside healthcare providers and opinion leaders. This position reports to the VP of Medical Affairs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
* Assist the VP of Medical Affairs in the development and successful execution of the Medical Affairs strategy, programs and deliverables.
* Lead the strategic assessment, planning and execution of scientific communications.
* Provide an analysis of communication needs within the therapeutic area while developing a strategy with Marketing to satisfy those needs, including publications, educational activities, etc.
* Provide clinical knowledge and expertise to answer customer product inquiries and/or complaints.
* Establish trusting and compliant relationships with experts and advocates within the urology/oncology community to build product awareness and gain strategic insights for marketing and development strategy.
* Execute TOLMAR's advocacy plan with experts in the field, academics, professional organizations and/or patient associations.
* Represent TOLMAR Pharmaceuticals at medical meetings and advisory boards, as well as in discussions with key opinion leaders to enhance product knowledge and awareness.
* Collaborate with medical affairs and commercial personnel from other Tecnofarma companies and alliance partners in identification and execution of synergistic projects.
* Assist with identification and selection of appropriate external vendors and collaborate in design and execution of specified projects.
* Lead the development of an appropriate annual budget for medical affairs and track progress against budget monthly.
* Provide clinical expertise to the sales and marketing teams to aid in the development and execution of compliant commercial activities.
* Identify opportunities for clinical research to enhance the profile of Tolmar products and collaborate with the Tolmar clinical team in protocol design.
* Provide internal education and training sessions to ensure consistent, up-to-date scientific and medical information to the Commercial team.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
* U.S. Pharmaceutical market and U.S. healthcare market expertise
* In-depth knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations and other ethical pharmaceutical guidelines
* An advanced understanding and knowledge of current regulatory and quality requirements.
* Ability to synthesize multiple streams of information to form strategy in a rapidly changing dynamic environment, and bring clarity of focus to ambiguous market conditions.
* Ability to build and execute comprehensive tactical plans tied to customer strategies to maximize company product sales and profitability
* Ability to work with highly technical information, external scientists and thought leaders and internal R&D, regulatory and manufacturing organizations, and key industry decision makers to translate to commercial relevance and planning
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
* Skill in effective communication, both orally and in writing.
* Strong leadership skills; able to effectively communicate with the team regarding expectations.
* Skill in implementing effective organization; including proper problem-solving and follow-up.

Education & Experience
* Advanced degree in scientific discipline or equivalent (PharmD or PhD preferred)
* 7 or more years of progressive medical affairs responsibility in pharmaceutical industry
Working Conditions
* Office environment; requiring sitting and standing
* Travel is required up to 30%
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual Pay Range: $220,000.00 - $250,000.00
