What to Expect
Tesla is looking for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to add to their Manufacturing Engineering, Cell team responsible for developing, deploying, and advancing state of the art cell manufacturing and test equipment. As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will be involved in and responsible for designs through the whole lifecycle of the project. This includes concept development, electrical architecture, specification gathering and development, design, prototyping, design for manufacture, validation, test, coordinating with manufacturing, deployment in the field, and failure analysis. A successful candidate will be technically strong, adaptable and able to work with a cross-functional team to quickly push innovative solutions to the forefront.
What You'll Do
- Develop project concept, specifications, and test plans
- Design schematics, perform circuit analysis/simulation, design for high reliability,and design for manufacturing
- Derive actionable information from failure analysis and drive design improvements for PCBAs and systems
- PCB Development
- Perform validation and reliability testing and produce quality test reports
- Support PCBA assembly and manufacture, answering TQs and guiding vendors to produce reliable, quality builds
- Coordinate with Firmware and Mechanical Engineers on design parameters and requirements
- Tool development to support testing and validation
- Implement and manage continuous process optimization including the addition of advanced and conventional technologies to improve quality, productivity and reduce overall waste
- Develop & maintain proper documentation
What You'll Bring
- Degree or Equivalent Experience in Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years of PCB and electrical system design experience (Altium Designer preferred)
- Deep understanding of analog and digital circuits
- Experience with high voltage DC and AC, including specifying creepage, clearance and satisfying safety requirements
- Experience in power converter design and knowledge of multiple power converter topologies
- Experience with circuit simulation
- Proficient with lab tools: Multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, soldering, etc.
- Experience in firmware development and scripting languages
- Solid knowledge of Python for test automation and data analysis
- Able to work under pressure and perform within challenging time constraints

Expected Compensation
$95,152 - $214,548/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
