What to Expect

We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Electrical Engineer to join our Commercial Operations team at Tesla. In the Electrical Engineer - BOP, Commercial Operations position, you will serve as a key subject matter expert supporting the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of high/medium voltage, balance of plant (BOP), and control equipment for Tesla's Commercial Energy products.

You will provide remote engineering support to field operations and subcontractor teams, offering troubleshooting expertise and technical guidance with the goal of enabling or restoring site operation. Provide authoritative guidance in collaboration with program leaders to drive sustainable solutions and standards.

In addition, you will drive the development and execution of a new program framework in collaboration with business operations and technical program teams, foster strong cross-functional relationships, and lead continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.

You will be responsible for developing equipment specifications and maintenance scopes to ensure system reliability across the fleet. Must be able to work seamlessly with internal and external partners on challenges and impediments affecting legacy projects and create process improvements on retrospectives gained.


What You'll Do
  • Support the Balance of Plant program with electrical subject matter expertise, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives
  • Manage relationships with cross-functional teams, including but not limited to: Design and Engineering (D&E), Construction and Deployment (C&D), Operations and Maintenance (O&M), and Environment, Health, and Safety (EH&S) to ensure effective collaboration and communication
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with BOP equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements
  • Provide continuous, close loop feedback and bridge knowledge gaps between Engineering, Field, Safety, Training, and Program teams during acceleration of new equipment, processes, and/or procedures in support of BOP program goals
  • Collaborate with Design, Engineering, and Program teams to develop sustainable technical solutions for unique project and fleet issues and improve the overall performance of BOP equipment
  • Collaborate with Safety, Engineering and Training teams on electrical safety procedures and best practices
  • Engage in Field Visits to oversee technical troubleshooting, training, and/or maintenance on an as needed basis

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in program management, operations and maintenance, with a strong focus on O&M of large-scale energy facilities and electric vehicle charging
  • Proven experience in managing cross-functional teams and collaborating with stakeholders to achieve program goals
  • Strong understanding of industry standards and regulatory requirements relevant to industrial electrical projects in energy generation, power conditioning, and electrical vehicle charging
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex information and make data-driven decisions
  • Solutions driven with creative and innovative approaches focused on safety and sustainability
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders

    Expected Compensation
    $118,320 - $273,480/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
