Our firm is partnering with an established and rapidly growing aerospace manufacturing company in the Manchester, CT area to identify an experienced Interim Controller. This is a critical, onsite leadership role responsible for stabilizing and elevating the accounting function during a transitional period. We are seeking a hands-on finance leader with strong manufacturing accounting experience and direct Epicor ERP expertise, which is essential for success in this engagement.

Position Overview

The Interim Controller will oversee daily accounting operations, drive an efficient and accurate month-end close, and ensure financial reporting integrity while providing immediate leadership and structure to the accounting team. This individual will assess current processes, recommend improvements, and partner closely with Operations and senior leadership to enhance financial visibility and support effective decision-making. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, process-oriented, and comfortable stepping into a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities


  • Lead, support, and mentor the accounting team during the transition period.
  • Oversee AP, AR, general ledger, cost accounting, and other core accounting functions.
  • Manage and execute a timely and accurate month-end close.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and key analyses.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and audit requirements.
  • Strengthen policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Leverage strong Epicor experience to optimize system use and improve data accuracy.
  • Troubleshoot system issues, enhance workflows, and support reporting improvements.
  • Train team members on Epicor best practices as needed.
  • Assess current processes and drive efficiency, automation, and accuracy across the function.
  • Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, and leaders across the business to support costing, inventory accuracy, and financial decision-making.
  • Support forecasting, budgeting, and operational finance activities as needed.



Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred but not required.
  • 8-12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles in manufacturing.
  • Epicor ERP expertise required - must be hands-on and proficient.
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory processes, and manufacturing operations.
  • Proven experience stabilizing and improving accounting functions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lead teams, manage deadlines, and communicate effectively across departments.
