Job Description

Position Overview:

The Accountant III is responsible for supporting both general and sales accounting functions within a centralized accounting environment that includes multiple manufacturing locations. This role ensures accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with internal controls and company policies, and provides operational and financial analyses to support business decision-making. The position also contributes to process improvement initiatives, supports external audits, and provides training and guidance within the accounting team. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and able to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

General Accounting

  • Prepare month-end closing journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation.
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations and supporting schedules for numerous accounts.
  • Provide ongoing support to the general accounting team.
  • Conduct weekly freight review and allocation.
  • Provide financial and operational month-end and ad-hoc analyses and reporting.
  • Manage various other month-end close responsibilities.

Sales Accounting

  • Manage all aspects of accounting for customer rebates, including coordination of rebate payments, processing in the SAP rebate module, and monthly account reconciliations.
  • Oversee accounting for customer-paid tooling, including project setup, tracking, invoicing, reporting, and month-end reconciliations.
  • Provide backup support for processing pricing updates in SAP and customer price action forms in Salesforce (SFDC).
  • Manage royalty and signing bonus accounting, including account reconciliations.

Other Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of forecasts and budgets.
  • Establish, monitor, and enforce internal controls, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement.
  • Provide ongoing support and training in General and Sales Accounting.
  • Support external audit inquiries and requests.
  • Support other business initiatives as needed.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting (required).
  • Minimum 5 years of professional accounting experience in a centralized accounting function, ideally supporting multiple manufacturing sites.
  • 2+ years' experience with ERP Fixed Assets modules (SAP preferred).
  • Strong systems aptitude; experience with SAP ERP and SAP Business Planning & Consolidation (BPC) preferred.
