Hourly Rate: $37.06

Position Summary
Reporting to the Carpenter, Paint Supervisor, the carpenter will need medium to high level of expertise to perform skilled carpentry. Assists with the maintenance, repair, and renovation of all carpentry aspects of university buildings. Maintains a safe and workable environment for all building users. Candidates should possess excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills. Focus on high quality work and efficiency is required.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Must have a valid driver's license.

Required Education and Experience
*Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as a carpenter, or full journey status as a carpenter in a union or five years applicable work experience.
*An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills and Abilities
*Installation and/or respond to routine calls to repair doors, walls, ceilings, floors, trim work, furniture, and shop work
*Performs rough and finish carpentry in renovations projects as directed
*Operate various tools, power tools and equipment used to complete carpenter duties including but not limited to circular saws, table saw etc. (Any other tools the trades use here at Temple)
*Measure, cut and/or shape wood, plastic, and other materials
*Read and follow blueprints, work diagrams and technical documents for projects as needed
*Ability to work from a high lift or bucket truck at heights up to 50'
*Installations of acoustical ceilings and millwork
*Tape & finish drywall
*Knowledge of safe work practices (including PPE requirements for work assignments),
applicable building codes, and government regulations including, but not limited to, OSHA & Plumbing Codes
*Possess the excellent written and verbal communication skills that are essential to communicate effectively with all members of the Temple community (customers and supervision)
*Listening to superiors and customers are saying and asking questions appropriately.
*Managing ones time and the time of others
