Initial appointment will be full-time for two years. Reappointment for a third year is expected following a review to assess performance. Reappointment is also contingent upon the availability of funding. Application Window Open date: November 24, 2025 Next review date: Monday, Jan 5, 2026 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Monday, Aug 31, 2026 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description The Mathematics Department at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for one or more Math Fellows in all areas of mathematics, including algebra, number theory, topology, analysis, and geometry and dynamics. Applicants with expertise in the broad area of geometry/topology are strongly encouraged to apply. Under the direction of the UCSC Mathematics Department Chair, the math fellow(s) will contribute to undergraduate and graduate instruction and the research activity of the department and will be expected to participate in department seminars. Additionally, the math fellows must be able to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from a breadth of academic and socioeconomic backgrounds. Each math fellow will be matched with a mentor from our permanent faculty for career and research guidance. Experience teaching mathematics at the college or university level as the instructor of record will be highly valued. Preference will be given to candidates whose field of research complements the department's existing research activities.
