Position Summary

The Supervisor of Specimen Processing Phlebotomy coordinates all aspects of specimen collections and specimen processing to ensure that all operational procedures and processes are followed including regulatory compliance within a high-volume level specimen processing laboratory area. The Supervisor serves as a technical resource for the team, resolves instrument issues, and ensures service and inventory levels continue to meet departmental and customer service goals.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the day-to-day technical duties for section. Assigns and reviews work, provides work instruction (OTJ or formal training) and develops team members
  • Participates in leadership activities for department, contributing to the achievement of goals and objectives
  • Maintains internal processes for section; supports customer service standards and handles operational and customer service escalations for section
  • Provides technical expertise on programs, processes, and best practices
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations for section
  • Participates in the development and monitoring of compliance with all regulatory agencies and federally funded programs, productivity analysis, quality/performance improvement and patient/employee safety
  • Functions as a primary resource for technical and clinical expertise in lab section and a clinical consultant to care providers; oversight of and responsible for performing laboratory testing and procedures in the laboratory and reporting timely accurate test results

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, or biological science; a combination of education and additional years of prior lab experience will be considered in lieu of degree
  • MLT(ASCP), MT(ASCP), or PBT(ASCP) preferred
  • Medical Assistant-Phlebotomy (MA-P) certification preferred
  • Three (3) years of relevant laboratory experience required
  • Previous experience in a lead or supervisory role
  • Recent phlebotomy experience in a high-volume laboratory specimen management department preferred

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $66,997.00 - $96,408.00 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant's years of experience align.
