A Brief Overview
This role will assist in the development and testing of research applications for acquisition and analysis of medical images.

Works under the mentorship of an established principal investigator to develop software to enable discoveries. Encouraged to initiate and conducts independent development and experiments without direct supervision. Will work on specified projects at the guidance of the principal investigator and collaborators. Collaborates and interacts with other researchers within the institution and at other institutions. Assists in the preparation of scientific publications and research grant proposals. Serves as resource person for colleagues and as a mentor for less experienced research personnel.

What you will do

• Participates in creation and customization of medical image processing applications (MRI, CT, Optical).
• Creates applications to run neuroimaging systems through integration of hardware APIs.
• Investigates application of machine learning for segmentation and analysis of medical images
• Assists in developing publications for peer reviewed, scientific journal articles.
• Trains technical staff, students, fellows & physicians in application of tools developed
• Manages open source platforms for sharing, dissemination, and training of the developed software.

Education Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information technology or related field - Required
• Master's Degree - Preferred

Experience Qualifications

• At least one (1) year of software testing, developing or application experience - Required
• At least two (2) years of software testing, developing or application experience - Preferred

Skills and Abilities

• Advanced proficiency programming in Python
• Intermediate proficiency with collaborative software development tools
• Basic proficiency in using version control, Git, Github flow process
• Basic proficiency with shape analysis and statistical shape analysis (Preferred proficiency)
• Basic proficiency with finite element modeling (Preferred proficiency)
• Basic proficiency using and/or contributing to open-source image processing tools such as VTK, ITK and 3D Slicer
• Basic proficiency in creating and training models using Pytorch, Keras, Tensorflow
• Intermediate proficiency programming experience in C/C++
• Familiarity with DICOM standard and other image formats
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to gather, analyze and make recommendations/decisions based on data / best practices
• Ability to convey complex or technical information in an easy-to-understand manner
• Ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels
