| Position Summary |
The primary location of this position is the main Cullowhee, NC campus.
The job of the Education Recruiter is to recruit students for teacher and professional education programs. The Education Recruiter will perform the full cycle of recruiting activities including but not limited to, sourcing and screening applicants, managing recruitment events and activities, maintaining recruiting data systems, and reporting on recruitment progress. The ultimate goal of the position is to recruit quality candidates for the purpose of providing the College of Education and Allied Professions (
CEAP), and its partners, with a highly qualified pool of excellent candidates in teacher and professional education programs. The Education Recruiter will report to the Director of Student Success.
The Education Recruiter will:
- Recruit students from across the state of North Carolina and regional southern states on an ongoing basis.
- Effectively manage the recruitment of prospective students from inquiry stage through matriculation.
- Develop and maintain relationships with applicants and answer follow-up questions.
- Facilitate the development of and collaborate with programs for the purpose of increasing and supporting the candidate pool of teacher applicants.
- Work directly with appropriate personnel at high schools and community colleges to increase the numbers of applicants to our program.
- Build a partnership with the undergraduate and graduate admissions offices for mutual support and coordination in recruiting students to education programs.
- Collaborate with the Director of Teacher and Professional Education for the purpose of developing and implementing a recruitment plan for teacher and professional education programs new teachers.
- Attend meetings with campus stakeholders for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.
- Attend recruitment events, both in-state and out-of-state, by colleges and universities for the purpose of recruiting teachers and professional educators. Evening and weekend hours and travel as needed.
- Collaborate with pipeline programs, especially regional community colleges, for the purpose of increasing and supporting the candidate pool of teacher applicants.
- Collect/analyze data for the purpose of preparing reports on recruitment progress.
- Design and facilitate presentations for students, parents, businesses, the general public, and other groups for the purpose of disseminating information about recruitment for teacher and professional education.
- Build healthy relationships with students, parents, WCU colleagues, and external stakeholders.
- Prioritize, organize, schedule, and coordinate a variety of activities, projects, and events throughout the year, including summer.
- Lead the CEAP Student Ambassador Corp and Social Media Team.
- Perform other duties as assigned for the purpose of meeting the mission and goals of the CEAP.
- Consistently meet deadlines for assigned tasks and projects while completing quality work.
- Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as being highly organized with attention to detail.
- Remain positive, flexible, and professional.
- Demonstrate an understanding of professional responsibility and a team approach to the job.
- Possess the ability to work collaboratively and independently to achieve goals.
