Primary Responsibilities

HDR is looking for a Civil EIT to join our Power Team. Candidates interested in this industry will perform engineering tasks of varying complexity, assigned by a Project Engineer or Project Manager. Primary duties will include preparing engineering drawings, calculations, analyses, reports, and civil design in support of photovoltaic plants of varying sizes and substation systems, under the direction and supervision of more senior engineers and designers. They will also be responsible for executing technical aspects and deliverables for assigned projects and must be able to complete all technical requirements, ranging from basic to moderate complexity. This individual must have experience in site planning and layout, grading and drainage design, access & erosion control plans, limit-of-disturbance calculations, site due diligence, permitting, specifications, and construction administration of site infrastructure components.

The Civil EIT will also be expected to:

  • Perform site planning and layout
  • Review of geotechnical and geologic reports
  • Evaluate hydrology and hydraulics for site drainage improvements
  • Evaluate water and wastewater flows for site utility improvements
  • Perform site grading and earthwork analysis
  • Coordinate with other project disciplines, including structural, electrical, and environmental
  • Experience handling multiple projects, understands client standards, and works independently on smaller projects or assists senior engineers on larger projects.
  • Communicate effectively with Project Manager(s), Project Engineer(s) and most importantly our Client(s)
  • Work under the direction of the Project Manager(s) and Project Engineer(s) and handle basic to moderately complex tasks using their own discretion.
  • Work with experienced personnel and Senior Engineers to identify and develop specific technical expertise, and attend training and seminars focused on further development and understanding of complex concepts related to their discipline
  • Work with Designers and CADD Technicians to develop drawings in accordance with national design standards, safety codes, and project specifications and requirements.
  • Assign tasks, provide guidance, and/or review work performed by Designers and CADD Technicians, and coordinate QC reviews from other teams on an as-needed basis.
  • Support new business opportunities, and to renew existing client engagement

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Local candidates preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Engineer In Training (EIT) certificate
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture
