In the role of Cultural Resource Specialist I, we'll count on you to:
  • Perform site testing and conduct analyses work on a variety of development projects involving archaeological resources, historic structures, tribal resources and excavations
  • Provide technical expertise to develop design options or recommendations, and assist in the preparation of service deliverable documents
  • Perform routine scientist assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures
  • Complete projects with clear, specified objectives and limited variables
  • Work independently on small projects, or assist more-senior scientists on larger projects
  • Give direction to clerical and technical personnel as needed

  • Travel with overnight stays for extended periods out of town
  • Draft sketch maps of sites and complete field forms accurately and concisely
  • Sit and use a computer for extended periods daily
  • Commit to data confidentiality agreements and professional ethics standards
  • Have a positive attitude with interest and willingness to learn and accept increasing responsibilities
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's
  • Previous work experience in cultural resource projects

  • 1 to 5 years of relevant experience performing cultural resources management work, preferably in Arizona
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, Architectural History or closely related field
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Self-starter with excellent writing and communication skills
  • Willingness to work under varied weather conditions
  • Successful candidates must be familiar with field study design and documentation, regulatory framework for cultural resource management, and GIS utilities
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
