Benjamin Moore & Co., a Berkshire Hathaway company, is a leading manufacturer of innovative, high-quality coatings for the architectural and industrial maintenance markets. We are currently looking for an Associate Chemist to join our Product Development team.

The Associate Chemist role is an exciting chance to join a team that promotes and recognizes innovation. We are seeking motivated individuals who will produce world-class products and add to the skillset of an already successful formulation team.



Responsibilities

    Assist in the development of new products in partnership with Quality, Marketing and Manufacturing teams
  • Report, document and share observations and learnings
  • Independently execute work assignments
  • Build knowledge of formulation tools, test methods and production processes
  • Support resolution of quality, procurement and manufacturing issues
  • Maintain laboratory and equipment
  • Participate in learning and capability building initiatives in product development
  • Professional development through continuous learning
  • Adhere to all laboratory safety and cleanliness guidelines


Qualifications

  • BS in Chemistry or related science required; 0-3 years' experience in laboratory setting
  • Strong people and cross-functional team skills
  • Exhibits and fosters cooperation within the Product Development team
  • Excellent communication, presentation and organizational skills
  • Possess good analytical problem-solving skills to make timely and accurate decisions
  • Clear and concise record keeping
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Meticulous, diligent and dedicated with a solid work ethic

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally (e.g. files, boxes of documents).

  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling documents/ chemicals.

  • Visual activity required for reviewing documents, spreadsheets, and computer screens.

  • Occasional standing, walking, and reaching within the lab environment.

  • Ability to travel occasionally for training or product scale-up-related as needed.

USD $54,100.00 - USD $69,200.00 /Yr.
