As our Human Resources Associate, you will guide employees and managers through HR policies and help them find clear, supportive solutions. You will strengthen our talent pipeline by shaping recruitment strategies, updating job descriptions, and partnering with leaders throughout the hiring process. You will also manage leave cases, advise on accommodations, and ensure operations run smoothly with accurate documents, reports, and engaging training sessions. We Require

  • One year of experience working in a human resources environment

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in human resources, business administration, public administration, or a closely related field

  • Human resources experience may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis

We Also Value

  • Experience supporting public service-focused environments

  • Experience using the Workday HRIS platform

  • Customer service experience

  • HR certification from an accredited organization, such as SHRM, HRCI, or IPMA

Job Contributions

  • Interpret Human Resources policies and procedures, providing clear advice, direction, and information to employees and managers on a wide range of HR matters

  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies by identifying candidate sources, updating job descriptions, and partnering with management throughout interviews and selection, while also coordinating department hiring, onboarding, and offboarding processes to ensure a seamless experience and full compliance with applicable employment laws

  • Manage ADA cases from initiation to closure by reviewing medical documentation, leading the interactive process, preparing correspondence, and tracking cases through the AbsenceSoft system; provide recommendations and guidance to departments regarding accommodation approvals and denials

  • Manage leave case administration, including FMLA, Parental Leave, Donations of Leave, and Short- and Long-Term Disability, ensuring compliance with laws and policies; advise employees and management on rights, obligations, and procedures, and maintain accurate and thorough documentation throughout each case

  • Review, audit, and edit employee timecards to ensure accurate payroll processing; verify and apply correct leave coding for all leave case types; coordinate with departments to resolve discrepancies; and oversee leave without pay approvals in accordance with policy

  • Prepare complex and sensitive HR correspondence, documents, and forms that support personnel actions, position management, compensation, and payroll; review materials for accuracy, completeness, and policy compliance

  • Maintain records, spreadsheets, and reports for HR activities in compliance with department policies and procedures, and conduct research, compile statistical data, and prepare reports to support management decision-making

  • Design and deliver engaging training modules tailored to organizational needs, and participate in the implementation of HR policies, procedures, audits, and related projects

  • Serve as a backup to HR Business Partner by providing guidance and recommendations on complex Human Resources matters, including personnel management, selection processes, discipline, leave issues, and grievance resolution

  • With direct guidance and direction from an HR Business Partner or HR Manager, support managers and employees with employee relations concerns and assist with investigations by gathering information and preparing reports for disciplinary or grievance-related actions

Working Conditions

  • Work will occur in an office and field environment with potential exposure to loud noise, noxious odors, unsanitary conditions, chemicals, electricity, moving mechanical parts, varying weather conditions, fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation, and other related conditions and situations

  • Ability to exert up to 20 lbs. occasionally, 10 lbs. frequently, or negligible amounts constantly, and requires walking and standing to a significant degree
