Job Description

The Dr. Paul de Figueiredo's lab has two (2) openings for a Post Doctoral Fellow Researcher interested in using microbes to combat cancer and autoimmune disease in humans. Our goal...to build an inexpensive and safe therapeutic using bacteria that can recruit and regulate tumor-targeting immune cells to help the body fight cancer cells without the side effects of traditional medications. Alongside the University of Missouri's excellent research infrastructure to support these lines of investigation, our research endeavors primary focus on experiments related to microbe-influenced corrosion in lab mice colonies.

The successful candidate is expected to enhance the lab's ability to support overall project goals. They will conduct experiments to investigate how pathogens evade host immune responses and manipulate cellular processes to thrive within host cells. Maintain an up-to-date understanding of the peer reviewed literature that pertains to overall project goals and specific tasks required of the project. The candidate will be responsible for recording all methods, results, and other relevant information in an organized manner as instructed by the Principal Investigator. They will be expected to perform experiments, data analysis and manuscript preparation. The successful candidate should be highly motivated and is expected to work collaboratively within a team.

The position is anticipated to have a shift of 8 am to 5 pm, Monday - Friday with flexibility for weekend/evening hours as required for experiment needs
