About the role

The Plant Superintendent-MBN will oversee the facility's Mass Burn unit to ensure it operates safely, cost-effectively, and efficiently. This role is responsible for supervising, developing, coaching, and counseling all assigned personnel, ensuring that equipment conditions are accurately documented, and providing input to maintenance on work scheduling and prioritization. Relocation assistance is offered to qualified candidates. New Hires are eligible for a Sign-On Bonus.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Supervise, coach, counsel, and provide daily direction to assigned personnel. Conduct regular performance reviews and ensure that appropriate action is taken on recognized behavioral requirements.
  • Maintain and provide leadership that supports the company's goals and opportunities for improvement, and provide direction required for successful implementation of new strategies.
  • Effectively organize work and projects with other departments and oversee and ensure the proper and efficient daily work of the Mass Burn unit's operations personnel.
  • Manage, track, and implement established technical training programs, and develop new training, as needed.
  • Administer and supervise studies to improve plant operations, maintenance, or equipment, and monitor the effectiveness of plant manuals and procedures, instituting changes or additions, as required.
  • Establish complete communication with operations and maintenance teams so there is a seamless transition between shifts relating to equipment, systems, and reliability issues.
  • Retain working knowledge of the facility's emergency response plan and ensure the plant's readiness to meet unusual situations and safe, efficient, day-to-day operations.
  • Routinely tour the Mass Burn unit and proficiently inspect machinery to ensure plant performance requirements are met and to oversee work of the unit's personnel.
  • Adhere to environmental, health, and safety procedures and permit requirements.
  • Performs other assignments as directed by the Facility Manager and Operations Manager.

Position Requirements:

Education (Degrees, Certifications, Fields of Study):

  • High school diploma or GED required. A Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • Ten years of experience in supervisory and managerial level roles in an industrial power-generating facility.
  • The ASME QRO Certification is desirable, or you must be able to qualify for this certification within six months of employment.

Shift:

  • This position requires onsite availability, Monday through Friday days. Willing to work evenings, holidays, and weekends on a non-routine basis, when required, to support facility operations.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong comprehension of all phases of power plant or industrial process operations.
  • Understanding of municipal solid waste (MSW) combustion practices and materials handling processes.
  • Maintenance experience with rotating and electrical generation (turbine generator) equipment.
  • Knowledge of electrical and controls systems is desired.
  • Aptitude to write reports and correspondence, as well as effectively present information, and respond to questions from groups of managers and subordinates.
  • Ability to direct and/or collaborate with others to operate, maintain, and resolve technical issues.
  • Capable of leading and motivating team members to meet the company/facility's goals and personnel development.
  • Strong leadership and verbal and written communication are a must.
  • Cultivate innovation and embrace change.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb
  • Ability to lift/carry 50lbs
  • Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces
  • Qualify to wear a full-face respirator
  • Consistently work in various weather conditions

The expected annual salary for this position is $115,264.00 - 190,357.00. This is a good faith estimate of what we expect to pay for this position. The final figure will take into account a variety of factors including experience, ability, and location. Reworld is committed to paying its staff equitably, and these ranges should not be considered career salary limits or caps.
