This position is eligible for Eskaton's health benefits package the first of the month following 60 days of employment and Paid Time Off benefits program after 90 days of employment.
Position Summary:
The Director of Environmental Services is responsible for ensuring a safe, clean, well maintained and comfortable environment for the residents and staff throughout the entire village campus. This position will hold primary responsibility for the environmental services department, which includes campus patrol, housekeeping, landscaping, laundry, and maintenance. This position is responsible for planning and directing all activities of the department including procedure development, budget planning and control, customer service excellence, and staff training and development. This position is also responsible for ensuring that the physical plant maintains substantial compliance with Eskaton standards as well as Fire Safety and Life Safety Code regulatory requirements as monitored by local, State and Federal agencies.
The starting salary for this position ranges from $68,640 to $84,078 annually. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered.
Position Responsibilities include:
- Hires, orientates, trains, coaches, counsels, promotes, evaluates, and provides general employment decisions for the environmental services department.
- Responsible for the general supervision and organizational structure within the environmental services department and ensures quality, equity and consistency within the department.
- Maintains the department's budget and is fiscally responsible in accordance with those budgets and policies.
- Ensures that the environmental services department maintains sufficient tools, supplies and equipment to effectively perform departmental expectations.
- Ensures an efficient plant operation in cooperation with other departments.
- Maintains physical property in an "inspection ready" state and ensures compliance with Eskaton standards as well as Fire Safety, Life Safety Code regulatory requirements for all applicable community licenses.
- Ensures the overall health of the campus building and grounds through an effective preventative maintenance program.
- Ensures that the campus building and grounds are clean and well maintained for a positive first impression with excellent curb appeal.
Qualifications
Education:
- Associate or trade degree in professional engineering (mechanical, electrical or related field); will consider equivalent job experience in lieu of degree
- Current or formerly held certification in related fields such as Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP), EPA refrigeration certification, OSHA certification, State boiler certification, etc. highly desirable
Training and Experience:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in the property maintenance field
- 3+ years progressive experience in a key leadership/management role in hospitality, healthcare, senior care or other large campus environment is required
- Extensive working experience with multiple disciplines such as plumbing, electrical, general building construction, fire alarm and sprinkler systems, painting, carpentry, heating and refrigeration systems, grounds maintenance, masonry and general maintenance
- Experience coordinating and managing projects related to building systems infrastructure
- Experience with Federal and State inspections such as the health department, fire marshal and DPH is required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Recent experience and a strong understanding of budgeting/expense management, capital planning and processes and a basic understanding of financial and accounting practices
- Strong computer skills including the ability to prepare spreadsheets and use Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Power Point and/or Access) to analyze data and trends
