Your Tasks
The Technical Lead provides leadership and technical expertise to the development of new products (NPD) in the Derma and skin care product portfolio of Beiersdorf, according to established budget and timelines.
The incumbent manages and coordinates all technical activities within the US R&D Innovation Center during the development of new aerosol OTC and cosmetic products (brings an aligned technical strategy and integrated project plan to the project core team, estimates and manages development site budget for assigned NPD projects), contributes to the development of project risks as well as technical success criteria, Product Profile and contingency plans for development activities.
Major Tasks/Responsibilities:
- The Technical Lead, leads tactical execution of 2 - 5 approved NPD projects with average NS of $ 3 to 5 million.
- Brings an aligned technical strategy and integrated project plan to the core team (CT) (the incumbent leads development of detailed milestones and timelines that deliver high quality NPD projects that are aligned with consumer expectations and insights)
- Supports the CT in developing the technical risk assessment for NPD projects, and creation of mitigation plans.
- Provide leadership and oversight of tactical execution (time, cost, quality), escalating any issues or deviations to the CT
- Coordinates corrective actions in the event of problems, in collaboration with the technical project team and the CT
- Motivates and rallies the technical development team behind the project, explaining/communicating project objectives and orientations
- Estimate and manage technical development budget for assigned NPD projects. This includes both internal FTE as well as external spend requirements in collaboration with the technical team and in accordance with the CT.
- Work in matrix environment, coordinate development site resources on time delivery (formulation, analytics, scale-up, packaging and manufacturing site)
- The Technical Lead leads projects with scopes including NPD, Product Changes and Regulatory under his / her responsibility by
- Leading sub-team meetings
- Ensuring Director of Product Development have accurate view of challenges and risks
- Ensure that outsourcing partners deliver from a timeline, milestones, and relationship perspective
- Creating the Development Plan
- Ensuring the executing of the Development plan with all deliverables

- Value Added to Company Success:
- The Technical Lead leads the technical execution of approved NPD projects according to established budget and timelines ensuring delivery of a product pipeline that meets business growth expectations.
- Lead technical execution of 2-5 NPD projects in the aerosol Sun care and Derma category with average Net Sales of approximately of $3 to 5 Million
- Ensure delivery of project pipeline
- Lead technical sub-teams
Your Profile
Bachelor's Degree (or international equivalent) with a minimum of 1 year of proven experience, a Master's Degree (or international equivalent) with a minimum of 1 years of proven experience, or a Ph.D. (or international equivalent) with a minimum of 1 years of proven experience.
- Understanding of Regulations and requirements for OTC products
- Track record of successfully leading projects and/or teams.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
