| Essential Job Duties |
The Research Assistant will aid in multiple projects by collecting sound research data, writing technical papers for journal submission, and summarizing results in reports to the funding agencies. The Research Assistant will also work with graduate students on the team by mentoring them through the completion of papers for publication in top academic journals. The Research Assistant is responsible for managing multiple projects while meeting deadlines in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Perform microbiology experiments with non-pathogenic microorganisms to test the efficacy of clean-in-place sanitation using plasma-activated water
- Perform chemical assays, including but not limited to protein characterization, antioxidant activity measurement, etc.
- Maintain quality standards to preserve the integrity of data and findings
- Write, prepare, and proof-read technical papers for submission to peer-reviewed journals
- Analyze data using various statistical methods
- Write reports to funding agencies summarizing data and presenting the implications of the results
- Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training videos on the operation of lab equipment
- Mentor junior assistants in troubleshooting research experiments
