Position Overview

The Manager, Salesforce, is responsible for the successful operation, strategic direction, and ongoing enhancement of Pew's Salesforce platform. This role ensures the platform aligns with organizational priorities, supports stakeholder engagement, and drives adoption of emerging technologies to meet business needs. This position requires initiative, independent judgment, and the ability to manage technical operations and projects across programmatic and operational areas.

This position is based in Pew's Washington, DC office and reports to the Senior Manager, Microsoft Applications, Information Technology. This position participates in Pew's hybrid work program with core days in the office and the flexibility to telework the remaining days. Staff also enjoy four telework "flex weeks" per year.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the platform owner for Salesforce, accountable for day-to-day health and long-term direction.

  • Build and maintain platform roadmaps for core Salesforce functionality, Marketing Cloud, and Grant Management (SmartSimple), aligning emerging technology with business needs and prioritizing incoming requests for value and impact.

  • Create solution designs for new Salesforce requests, partnering with stakeholders to shape requirements and negotiate toward simple, scalable, maintainable architectures that reduce platform complexity and long-term support burden.

  • Enforce Salesforce architecture and implementation standards, ensuring all changes comply with established best practices and maintainability requirements through design reviews and oversight of delivery.

  • Manage staff, assign tasks, review performance, and lead team meetings.

  • Ensure work aligns with IT priorities and supports overall IT initiatives.

  • Manage contracts, vendor relationships, and budget planning for Salesforce-related activities.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Generally, requires a minimum of 8 years of professional experience, including staff, project, and/or consultant management experience. Including four or more years of hands-on experience with Salesforce; a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required

  • Two or more years of direct supervisory experience, including performance management.

  • Demonstrated success in operations or project management roles, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

  • Foster a work environment that is diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible and in line with Pew and department goals

  • Experience in business analysis, requirements gathering, and solution design.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Salesforce certification preferred (Administrator, App Builder, Architect, etc.).

  • Experience in nonprofit or advocacy-driven organizations preferred.

Travel

Occasional travel required between Pew's main Philadelphia and Washington, DC offices, and smaller remote offices. Minimal additional travel required to attend trainings, seminars or conferences.

Salary Range

$143,300 USD - $160,100 USD

The salary range represents a reasonable estimate of the annual salary based on Pew's commitment to provide equitable and market-competitive pay. The actual salary offered will take into consideration many factors including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills and experience, internal pay equity, and business need.
