Designs and executes the control plan, audits to ensure that control plans are being followed, and ensures containment and corrective action in the event of non-conformance. May coach and develop Quality Technician and Manufacturing Engineers on best practice.

Job Description

Coordinates report outs of the data analysis for projects, and product lines. Includes customer line and field analysis, corrective action effectiveness, and overall internal quality metrics effectiveness. Designs the internal standards to be followed by the Quality Technician and Manufacturing Engineers. Reviews and evaluates the effectiveness of the quality planning for continuous improvement. Evaluates the root cause corrective action requirements and assigns appropriate internal personnel and external experts as needed. Facilitates training, corrective action process review, is typically the corrective action leader and the single point of contact to the customer for corrective action. Ensures all customer quality requirements are integrated into the QMS and communicates to management when gaps exist in meeting those requirements. Provides an overview of the customer quality requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure statistical confidence by identifying sample size and acceptable error when screening for non-conforming product.
  • Works with individual programs to monitor or analyze product assembly quality data and help correct quality issues.
  • Performs analysis on returned product and provides feedback to engineering to better improve the process
  • Ensure Work instructions and Processes meet AS9100/ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Ensure the products & product work instructions are within customer quality systems specifications
  • Develop new approaches to problem solving identified during quality assurance activities.
  • Serve as a quality assurance resource to supervisor(s) and manufacturing engineers for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement.
  • Report to programs on quality issues, trends and losses.
  • Performs in-process quality monitoring of factory assembly lines and engineering assembly labs.
  • Represent quality at program meetings.
  • Material Review Board member

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred) in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, Technology or Quality Assurance with 6+ years of experience in a Quality role in a manufacturing environment or a Master's degree.
  • Must be willing to travel occasionally (<5%) to our customers.
  • Ability to obtain a US Government security clearance. Security clearances are granted to U.S. citizens.

Desired Skills:

  • Have a passion for quality and prevention (doing it right the first time).
  • Knowledge of QMS ISO 9001 or AS 9100.
  • Must have strong computer skills and be especially proficient in MS Office.
  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • Six Sigma certification, Lean certification, Statistical Process Control (SPC), FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), Control Plans and / or American Society for Quality (ASQ) certifications
  • Experience with Six Sigma methodology and tools such as lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
  • General knowledge of industry technical standards (such as ANSI, IPC, J-Standard, ASTM, etc.)

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires at times to work long hours including overtime.
  • Will require some travel for personal training and customer visits.
  • Normal color vision and physical dexterity

Expected Compensation: The expected compensation range for this role is $105,000-125,000.

Ultra Maritime considers multiple factors when determining final compensation, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, a candidate's relevant experience and education, certifications and training, as well as current business and market conditions.
