Posting Summary
Rutgers Health, New Jersey Medical School ( NJMS) Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Health seeks a dynamic, collaborative physician executive who is passionate about advancing health equity in women's care, to serve as its next Chair. This is an exceptional opportunity for a nationally distinguished leader with a strong track record of clinical, research, teaching, and administrative achievements to lead the Department into the future. The next Chair will be an inspirational leader who is well versed in the academic missions to serve within a mission-driven department and organization.
The department is staffed by 22 primary faculty members who offer exceptional clinical care, innovative scientific research, and comprehensive educational programs for students and trainees in OB/ GYN. Reporting to the Dean, the Chair leads the clinical, administrative, educational, and research goals of the department. They will develop and mentor faculty, ensuring first in class inpatient, surgical, and ambulatory clinical care delivery. The department continues to successfully advance its principal objectives of excellence in women's health care, education of future healthcare professionals, innovative research, and collaborative community outreach and partnerships related to reproductive health.
As the state's oldest medical school, NJMS has a strong track record of expertise, innovation, and enthusiasm for training doctors that reflect the diversity of the surrounding communities. The school has pipeline programs to encourage students from backgrounds underrepresented in medicine. NJMS provides an array of opportunities in state-of-the-art learning facilities, research labs, and clinical programs across the globe. The next Chair will be a dynamic leader with substantial experience in an academic medical center, previously holding senior roles in clinical service and administration. They will be dedicated to recruiting and training a diverse team of OBGYNs that reflects the communities they serve and the faculty who support them. The Chair will be responsible for planning, managing, and implementing programs that promote the professional and scholarly development of the department's faculty, while also showcasing entrepreneurial spirit, innovation, and creative thinking in managing the clinical operations.
The ideal candidate will be a leader deeply committed to enhancing patient-centered care and fostering community partnerships. They should have experience leading a prominent OBGYNRH department, ensuring the highest quality and safety for women through evidence-based best practices. The candidate will demonstrate a collaborative leadership style and have extensive experience navigating complex hospital environments. They should have a proven track record of fostering accountability, effectively leading and managing teams, and recruiting and developing faculty and staff.

The candidate must possess the leadership experience necessary to oversee a busy clinical service line across NJMS. The ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders and partners is crucial for the department's success. Essential requirements include an M.D., D.O., or equivalent medical degree, board certification in obstetrics and gynecology; eligibility for medical licensure in New Jersey, and credentials for an appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor at NJMS.
