Our facility in Billerica, Massachusettsis located in the metropolitan Boston area and specializes in the designand manufacturing of advanced photonics products based on MEMS and other micro-scale optical devices. Our unique technology enables the highest system performance in the most compact and cost-effective formats in a variety of applications. This site's Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) products are laser-based imaging tools that have transformed ophthalmic care and made notable impacts on patients in cardiology, dermatology, oncology, gastroenterology, and other medical specialties. The Facilities Specialist is responsible for ensuring that buildings, grounds, and infrastructure are well-maintained and meet safety, health, and environmental standards. The role often involves managing both routine maintenance tasks and special projects to improve the functionality and aesthetics of the Billerica site. This position operates in a professional office and light industrial environment and requires frequent interaction with internal departments, contractors, and vendors. Key Responsibilities: Maintenance and Repairs: * Perform regular inspections of buildings, grounds, and equipment to identify maintenance needs; * Coordinate and conduct minor repairs, such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry tasks; * Schedule and oversee preventive maintenance for equipment and systems with established contractors * Maintain accurate facility related documents and inspection records, logs etc. Facility Management: * Assist in managing facility operations, including space planning, office layout, and relocation of employees or equipment. * Ensure that facilities comply with safety regulations, building codes, and environmental standards. * Respond to and resolve any facility-related emergencies or issues promptly. Safety and Compliance: * Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards. * Conduct regular safety audits and inspections, and provide recommendations for improvements. * Maintain records of maintenance activities, inspections, and compliance documents. Qualifications: * High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or vocational training in facilities management, engineering, or a related field is preferred. * 5+ years of experience in facilities management, maintenance, or a related field. * Knowledge of building systems, including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and general construction. * Proficiency in using maintenance management software and Microsoft Office Suite. * Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills. * Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and respond to emergencies. Physical Requirements: * Ability to stand, walk, or perform manual tasks for extended periods. * Able to climb stairs, ladders, bend down and/or work overhead. * Ability to work in hot or cold conditions as needed * Capability to lift or move equipment and materials up to 75 pounds. Skills: * Technical skills in building systems and maintenance. * Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks. * Excellent communication and customer service skills. * Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards.
