East Carolina University is in Greenville, North Carolina (Pitt County). Greenville is the cultural, educational, medical, and economic center of Eastern North Carolina. Pitt County's population is approximately 175,800, and it is located halfway between the capital city, Raleigh, and the Outer Banks. East Carolina University (over 27,000 students) is integral to a region covering twenty-nine counties.

We aim to transform the region and enhance the quality of life through the provision of sport and recreation services in various settings. We are one of six College of Health and Human Performance departments. We offer undergraduate degrees in Recreational Therapy and Recreation, Park, and Sport Management and a graduate degree in Recreation Sciences and Sport Management with concentrations in Recreation Management, Recreational Therapy Administration and Sport Management. The department collaborates with and has faculty affiliated with the Center for Sport and Community Development, Center for Biofeedback, the Institute for Coastal Science and Policy, the Brody School of Medicine, and other campus units. Our department is well-established and includes eighteen faculty members and approximately 450 undergraduate and 50 graduate students. The selected candidate should have the strategic vision, experience, and motivation to provide dynamic leadership to our rich and vibrant community. Our vision is to be a national leader in Sport Management, Recreational Therapy, Recreation Program Leadership, Community Recreation Planning, and Coastal and Rural Recreation and Tourism.
Job Duties
The Department of Recreation Sciences and Sport Management within the College of Health and Human Performance at East Carolina University seeks a candidate for a 12-month fixed-term perm Teaching Instructor position. The successful candidate will teach the professional preparation classes for undergraduate students concentrating in Sport Management and teaching in the concentration core for Sport Management. The successful candidate will contribute to the advancement and promotion of the undergraduate program in Recreation, Park, and Sport Management, supervise student field experiences, and mentor students on academic procedures and career goals.

Expectations include instruction, curriculum development, and service to the University, community, and profession.
Contingent upon availability of funds.
Minimum Education/Experience
Master's degree in Sport Management, Sport Administration, or closely related field such as Recreation Management, Leisure Studies, or Sport Leadership.

Experience related to Intercollegiate Athletics, Municipal Athletics, and/or Professional/Semi- professional Sport Management.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Experience or demonstrated teaching potential in entry level sport classes (e.g., Introduction to Sport Management) or experience supervising interns in sport management settings.

Experience or demonstrated teaching potential in one or more of the following: Sport Management and Organizational Behavior; Risk Management; Recreation, Sport, and Event Programming; Leadership and Group Process; and Sport Law.

Experience or demonstrated ability to teach face-to-face, hybrid, and both synchronous and asynchronous online.
