What to Expect
As a Senior Software Engineer in Tesla's Digital Experience team, you will be responsible for building the ecommerce system to support Tesla's rapid growth while providing a seamless and intuitive customer experience.

You will be a part of Tesla Shop team which owns the order management, product catalog, pricing and fulfillment of Vehicle accessories and Merchandise sales in Tesla. This includes https://shop.tesla.com, mobile and the retail store apps
which supports markets globally in 30+ countries.
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and have an expertise in server-side and backend development and has a proven track record in scalable backend systems, and thrives in collaborative and fast paced environments.
What You'll Do
- Design and build REST-based APIs and backend systems for Tesla Shop's ecommerce platform, handling millions of transactions during high-traffic product launches
- Write clean, maintainable, performant, and well-tested code to deliver new features and resolve technical issues
- Support market launches for Tesla Shop expansion and onboarding new products into Shop
- Monitor production systems, analyze real-time metrics, respond to alerts, and proactively address system performance
- Mentor junior engineers in backend best practices and performance optimization
- Drive technical decisions around query optimization and caching strategies
- Adapt quickly to evolving business priorities and technical requirements in a fast-paced, agile environment
What You'll Bring
- Degree in Computer Science, proof of exceptional skills in related field, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of related experience in software engineering with good unit testing and integration testing practices
- Experience writing code in programming languages like Java, Go or Python
- Deep expertise in relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and distributed data systems (MongoDB, DynamoDB, Redis)
- Experience in Elastic Path commerce framework is preferred
- Experience in Spring Boot, Microservices, ActiveMQ, Apache Solr, Apache Camel
- Proficiency in cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure), including serverless architectures (Lambda), containerization (Docker/K8s), and CI/CD pipelines
- Demonstrated success in optimizing high-traffic APIs (rate limiting, caching, load balancing) and debugging production issues (CPU/Memory bottlenecks)
- Experience developing AI agents is a plus
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills

Expected Compensation
$164,480 - $246,720/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
