DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION Assist nursing staff /ancillary staff in the transfer of patients from bed to bed, stretcher or wheelchair, pickup and delivery of patient meal trays and assisting with patient feeding as directed. Educate and train new staff members in the responsibilities of the Care Team Associate role. Perform other duties as delegated by nursing staff and unit management as needed in both routine and emergent situations. Responsible for accurate and timely entry of information into computerized bed-management system. Transport patient via wheelchair, stretcher, or bed to destination. Includes taking patients to tests, transfers and discharges. Transfer infusion pumps from pole to wheelchair, stretcher and bed; Ensure equipment such as wheelchairs, stretchers, beds, infusion pumps, etc. are routinely cleaned and available for use; Retrieve, tag, and deliver broken equipment to repair shop. Deliver equipment back to unit once repaired. Depending upon the area of responsibility, Care Team Associates may be assigned to Front Desk Lobby area. Primary responsibilities to include: Serve as resource and point of contact for information, serving patients, families, and visitors. Inform patients and families of hospital services, features and amenities. Coordinate all guest requests for special arrangements or services in a courteous and efficient manger by working with the appropriate departments and resources. Transport supplies, equipment, and people in a work-related capacity. Delivering specimens (including blood) to lab and delivering equipment and supplies to other departments as directed. May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Chauffeur driver license; class E or higher for Missouri residents PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and may require ambulating, remaining in a stationary position and positioning self to reach and/or move objects above the shoulders and below the knees. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 lbs. and occasionally move objects up to 25 lbs. or more. This role may also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
